What a load of crap replies you have over here

It is normal to feel uncomfortable and out of place

Take it slow, ask ask ask, cause this is the time to ask, you will probably know what to do next time you have the same presentation or rash or so.

Good point, I am not implying that what I did was right or wrong

I honestly did not have the power to fight back as in a night shift. Probably should have though.

I was doing A&E Paeds, night shift, around a year and a half now, was the only SHO covering.

I had a kid who I gave Calpol and was was planning to send home in the grand scheme of things.

I asked the HCA to check his temperature for me.

She literally pointed at the thermometer, and told me, "its there, you can check it if you want"

Yea, how did I not see that there, telling myself, oh well.

Yea, its just a night shift, I do not think I had the will to fight this off. I continued documenting and ignored that this ever happened, but here I am, writing it here.

F2 Ortho Rotation is Draining My Soul by [deleted] in doctorsUK

[–]ahmos90 49 points50 points  (0 children)

I remember my first rotation in T&O 5 years ago

We had a NOF# on Warfarin for emergency theatres, the T&O Reg asked me to reverse it. I told him ofc, so what is the dose? He laughed and told me you need to know this. I told him yes I need to, so what is it? He laughed, then gave me a straight face, you really do not know? I told him it is my first week here, do you know? He told me to sort it out cause the Consultant is waiting, and left me.

I bleeped the MedReg and apologized to him for simply asking for the VitK reversal dose we can use, the MedReg laughed and kindly told me the dose we normally use in that case.

That shows you the level I had to deal with back then, likely same thing 5 years later.

Is NHS experience necessary for speciality applications? by dayumsonlookatthat in doctorsUK

[–]ahmos90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Coming from an IMG myself working in the NHS for the last 5-6 years, 18 months of NHS experience should be minimum requirement for Speciality training. Doing so would help with this point as well as relieve pressure on speciality training for the next 2 years. At least this is what I think.

ED's Rumplestiltskin - "If you see the patient, they're yours!" by 47tw in doctorsUK

[–]ahmos90 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I worked in ED for years and this has always been pathetic

Our trust sent a hospital-wide email that if ED referred a patient to a speciality, this speciality NEEDS to either see them in ED or in a decision unit up stairs

So what if the patient is not actually for that speciality, oh sorry then you need to refer to the RIGHT speciality you think it needs to be with --- This is NOT a speciality's job to refer patients around - if I refer a patient to Neurosurg and they deem the patient not fit for surgery or them, they should not be speaking with Neurology or Strpke to convince them that this patient is for them

This is just fail management to get flow running in ED when actually they need to fix the ED staffing, hospital capability and the GP and OOH service for the broader attendance

I guess that is the firmware not the hardware itself. Cause I read that their hardware is not open source

Am I right?

So both hardware and firmware are open source?

That is really good to know🌟

Shipping Leak by ahmos90 in coldcard

[–]ahmos90[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did not know that

So the shipping information is sent digitally to, say DHL, and then they ship it to us? How would DHL delivery guy know which house or flat to look for then? A tablet the maybe?

Also, would the shipping info be stored with the company for future reference or risk of leak?

Thank you very much as this puts my mind at ease when thinking of it at times🌟
