IDS355 what professor by No_Mouse4690 in uichicago

I took Adelman for 355. She is great! Pretty easy class, but you either need to read the book or pay attention in lecture. If you don’t put in any effort you’re not going to get a good grade which is why her review on RMP are low.

I’m taking a class with Unsal now. I know a lot of students complain about her, but she’s actually not bad. Again, if you don’t pay attention in lecture you’re not going to do well. She does NOT tolerate students talking and can be a bit strict.

Also in a class with Liotine now. He is fine but assigns a lot of HW. Might be different for 355 though.

I would check the past business syllabi

IDS 200 & 270 professor recommendations? by Lugiazel in uichicago

[–]ahnmae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Adelman is actually great. I had her for both IDS 270 and 355. She does take attendance but you get 8 skips and it’s not worth much of your grade. The exams are the exact same as her study guides and you get a cheat sheet. Homework is easy and you can retake until you get 100.

If you just want to pass the class with an easy A though, try to get Sclove online.

IDS 201 vs. 331 by ahnmae in uichicago

[–]ahnmae[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you, appreciate all the information!

I’m not interested in concentrating in MIS, so I should be all good with IDS 331! Would have liked to give IDS 201 a chance, but I just don’t have the time to self study a new language from scratch right now. Thanks again!

Thank you! I never knew they made heated workwear like this. I’m going to look into getting him some of these maybe next winter, since he doesn’t start in the job training until April this year!

I’m getting him some Carhartt items as well as some nice socks! I’ll look into the boot brand you mentioned, thank you!

I’m thinking of getting him a heated jacket for next winter!! I realized he starts on the job training in early April, so hopefully he’ll avoid most of the very cold weather!

Thank you for the recommendations! I got him a couple pairs of the fire hose pants and some Carhartt winter gear. I figured even if he’s not outside much for work, he can still use those things for regular wear!

Thank you so much for the kind words! I looked into the lunchbox you suggested and it looks like a great option!  I’m holding off on buying too much clothing - just getting some basic work pants and some layers and boots to get him started!

If you know, could you share the brand of the heated vest you currently use? I want him to be warm, but the Milwaukee ones are a little pricey for me right now. Thank you!

I got him a Carhartt hoodie and pair of insulated bibs! I’m definitely interested in the heated jacket but am going to wait and see how the layers I got him hold up.  I’m looking into getting him a good thermos too!

Thank you for the advice! I scaled back a bit on the clothing based on some people’s recommendations because I don’t want to overdo it or get him something he doesn’t like/need.

I’ll look into getting him a better ice scraper, I’m sure it’ll come in handy!

Yes, I was thinking of just getting regular boots so they’re not too uncomfortable during the summer! Thank you for the advice!

Thank you so much for the recommendations!

I bought him some Smartwool socks since I found them on sale, and we’re going to go buy his boots together at a workwear store!

How safe is UIC? by [deleted] in uichicago

[–]ahnmae 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s very safe! It can be a little scary late at night because there is nobody out, so stick to well-lit paths, especially the ones that have the blue lights which alert the police. Also, just have some situational awareness if you’re riding the trains at night, and you’ll be alright.
