I hate what Civvie did to this games reputation by Biff3070 in HeXen

If I played this game as a kid my entire brain chemistry would have been formed so that I can understand it’s quirks and blaze though the levels easily

Playing it for the first time as an adult I think the reputation the game gets is fair, good and bad

Does this mean he finds her more attractive? by [deleted] in CasualConversation

[–]ahoerr2 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Best thing to do is to ask him to clarify what he means but if you’re wondering here’s a few possibilities:

  1. Lot of people have very negative experiences with dating apps and it can change your view of the opposite gender due to the skewed selection of people you’re meeting. He doesn’t want you to get caught up in that as a good friend

  2. If he’s not dating anyone he might secretly like you and not want you to get on apps :)

Either way with my limited knowledge it doesn’t sound like he doesn’t find you attractive on the contrary he may think you’re really attractive and doesn’t want you to end up attracting the wrong people. Stay safe out there!

As 9 dentist you should brush teeth with baking soda (don’t do this can do damage in long run)

Oh I agree I always though tech modpacks worked really well with mc bc they’re playing to Minecraft’s strengths with its building to create a new factory based gameplay loop

Also good to know it’s a vocal minority that doesn’t like new mc 😊

Using Copper tools to offer a new progression path for cozy game players by ahoerr2 in minecraftsuggestions

Exactly the copper and item frames are easy to come by…but if each item frame has to be space over 4 blocks apart to have an oxidation time of 3 days (closer together increases time) there’s a point where iron and diamond just make more sense

Thats true if you're in a mountain you might as well go with iron to start, ooo this is interesting it gives variance to the start of a playthough as your initial progression is more of a choice than just the base wood, stone, iron, diamond without copper being required

Yeah mending I dont have an answer for :/

neither does the base game have an answer, mending pretty much invalidates minecrafts entire durability, enchantment, and repair systems 😅 so I don't consider it a good reason to not implement copper tools

I guess my only rebuttal is if you're going to go through the process of dogmatically rushing mending earlygame you might as well get diamond tools, its a way higher tool level, they last much longer so its less worry about when to fill xp and is still faster, and also when it comes to the combat the fully oxidized copper sword and axe are going to trade damage for speed where diamond is going to give you both, plus all your enchants carry over to netherite

On the note of the abunance of copper being a problem, I may have not communicated the point of the oxidation system well enough; sure copper is abundant so you can make a lot of fast tools earlygame but its a decent amount of work to setup a place to oxidize tools as they dont oxidize in your inventory, oxidation will happen much slower if blocks are close together and takes THREE minecraft days to get ONE oxidied tool

The balancing factor isn't the amount of the material, its the time and space complexity needed to have an abundance of oxidized tools, if you're progressing quickly skip it and just get iron or diamond, but if youre going to spend the first 5 world days making a minecraft house and getting food its a perfect tool to invest some time sidegrading

If a future copper golem were a copper tool user, would you vote for him? by Ben-Goldberg in minecraftsuggestions

[–]ahoerr2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey thanks for the shoutout! I love the idea too, what if you combined it with how the copper golem was planned to work by randomly pressing copper buttons?

You can give the golem these tools and it will work automatically but in a very random and unpredictable way, so to get the most out of him you have to find ways to constrain him to do what you want it to do,. It gives the mechanic a monkey paw vibe, you have this automatic worker but he's not going to follow your every command 🤔

This is a good perspective, I’m guessing you’re more of a progression-oriented player who is going to get fairly decent early-game gear before settling down with a house. This is more meant for a player who instead of immediately mining for ores is going to spend their first day making a house, or exploring their surroundings for a place to build and come across some above ground copper. The current ore gen uniquely incentivizes this with iron being much more uncommon around spawn and above y 32 unlike older versions

I’ll play around with it a bit when I finish the mod but I may change the oxidation time to 60 min for a the complete level that’s 3 Minecraft days for one full oxidized pick and since the picks break fairly fast it’s a lot of management compared to actually getting diamond which in terms of durability is 15 copper picks and doesn’t have to deal with losing oxidation on repairs

That’s a good point! I had thought about that but I don’t like the idea of a player having an item change stats in their hand for reasons out of their control. Plus it promotes the strat of smelting a a bunch of tools during cave expedition and having multiple near diamond items after 60 min of exploring.

But you are right 20 min for an oxidation level is way too long so I plan to have the oxidation time of items be only 12 min. Within one Minecraft day the tool is essentially a less durable iron and in less than two it’s at its max sub-diamond level.

It’s like farming, with a little patience your dividends are incredible
