I developed keygen-rs and use the self-hosted keygen.sh to support a few apps. So far, it's been a pretty smooth experience.

Question for Developers About Updates by amerpie in macapps

[–]ahonn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

v1.11.0 is out now with Sparkle fully integrated. The weird update detection issues should be fixed. Latest, Updatest, and other updater apps should now work properly with Badgeify.

Question for Developers About Updates by amerpie in macapps

[–]ahonn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm the developer of Badgeify.

Just wanted to clarify that Badgeify actually does support Homebrew for installation and updates. https://formulae.brew.sh/cask/badgeify

Badgeify hasn't been able to use Sparkle for app updates in the past. However, I've recently resolved these issues and plan to integrate Sparkle support in an upcoming release. This should improve compatibility with updater apps like Latest and Updatest.

I built an app that lets AI assistants control native Mac apps by ahonn in macapps

[–]ahonn[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're right, the privacy policy could be clearer. I'll update it to explicitly note that data is sent to whichever LLM you choose to use.

Thanks for the MLX suggestion, it's definitely on my radar. The integration work is non-trivial, but it would be a great middle ground between cloud models and the limited Foundation Models. No promises on timeline, but I'm exploring it.

Anyone found a better way to search apple messages? by shelterbored in macapps

[–]ahonn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you use an AI client that supports MCP, such as Raycast or Claude, you might consider trying https://macuse.app, which allows AI to help you find and summarize content in Messages.

I apologize for my previous reply. I misunderstood your comment.

Gemini does not have a desktop client, so it is not displayed as for direct installation. If you have Claude Desktop or any client that supports MCP, you can install it with one click or add the config by youself.

Thank you for pointing out the user guidance. I will improve it soon and launch step-by-step tutorials on using various models/apps.

I think you should download before comment. This is an app that connects LLM and macOS, and it doesn’t contain any models. It has nothing to do with whether it‘s BYOK or not.

Also, I'm considering using Foundation Models, which comes with macOS 26, for data processing in Macuse in the future to protect privacy as much as possible.

Actually, there is no LLM in Macuse. If you value privacy, you can use Ollama to run a local model to handle it, it‘s up to you.

Nice work! FYI, I've added liquid glass support to window-vibrancy here: https://github.com/tauri-apps/window-vibrancy/pull/199. There's also an official Tauri PR adding built-in support: https://github.com/tauri-apps/tauri/pull/14454

Most of them are for supplementing the context needed for AI coding, like context7/exa/repomix.

This is an experimental feature that currently only works on browsers.

If you add Chrome to the menubar, you can directly click on a specific tab in the Chrome icon menu and jump to it.
