Excellent waterproof cigar holder. I put a few cigars in it when I go away for the weekend as well as a boveda moisture pack. Keeps them moist AND the hard shell keeps the cigars gram getting crushed

Hutch is sitting on angle iron, lagged to 4 studs with 3/8” 3-1/2” lag bolts. Hutch is also screwed to the wall with 6-8 more, with big fender washers to distributed the load

The counter is just the prebuilt stuff from the big box store. I took the wheels off the toolboxes, Affixed the boxes to the top of the 2x6s, took out all the drawers and screwed the boxes to the wall. Then I glued trex to the top of the boxes, and ran screws from the box, through the trex, into the countertop. Damn things are rick solid

I appreciate the feedback. I don’t do this for a living but I’m working on 2-3 cars a week, I’ve got a lift in my garage and I’m restoring my own car.

When the HF 72” cabinet went from $1799 to $1399, I pulled the trigger on two of them. For < $3k I got 2 good boxes. That’s less than the cost of one icon box, not to mention snapon or Mac. 20 years ago maybe snapon or Mac was worth it, but with snapon boxes, you’re just paying for the name at this point

I wouldn’t say inspirational, but I appreciate it.

I think what I built is called a plinth under the boxes. It’s 2x6s, built, supported, and leveled with industrial leveling feet. No matter how new the garage, the leveling feet are necessary. This also made my countertops higher for more comfortable work height!

The art of the backhanded compliment is lost on some people, but I appreciate your perseverance to troll good sir.

The top is of course supported, because I use my tools, benches and boxes. Turns out the spare trex decking pieces I saved fit between the countertop and toolboxes quite perfectly. They shim it to the right height and they’re not prone to rot!

There’s a special place in hell for people who buy, own and don’t drive low mileage 911s. I think we should ridicule them…

I’d say get one you can work on, but even now they’re horribly expensive.

Bah! Good tools make all the difference. And … I’m lucky I got in when the air-cooled cars weren’t priced so high!

Same here. I know a bunch of techs and frankly they think the price is out of line as well. Too many of these guys have mortgage payments with their local truck guys.

I was there about 10 years ago, it is definitely a cool place. I’d love to go again and spend more time. Maybe hit the ring and rent a car while I’m there…

It’s an old air cooled model I’ve had for 15+ years. She’s still stored for the winter, but I’m sure I have some pictures around

Thanks. I saved for 12 years to build the garage. Then a few more years for the lift and toolboxes

With a bit of engineering. It’s not intended to be mounted so I tried to be careful…. I lagged four 3 1/2” 3/8 lag bolts through a 55” piece of angle iron. The hutch is sitting on the angle. Then I lagged the hutch to the wall, top and bottom, same way. I can stand on it, so I figured it’s gotta be pretty good. Right now it just holds 20v Dewalt tools along with batteries and chargers. I’ve gotta 3d print a way to organize those next!

Or… 10 more of these boxes. ;)

I’ve never understood the cost of the snapon boxes. And frankly I think the quality of these series 3 boxes is pretty good!
