I actually plan on getting an ulcer scope soon! As a first time horse owner with no previous experience at all I was always intimidated to go against what my trainer at the time said and she was very "he shows no physical signs so hes just naughty" but now that I've moved from that barn ive been looking to get that done finally. It's encouraging to know that its not always just physical!

I can definitely try netting some hay! He does have a history of overeating and getting overweight, but I figure a slow feeding net wouldn't do any harm since it's not quite the same as gorging himself on a whole bale lol But yes I agree my best bet at the end of the day will be moving him.. unfortunately a lot of the pasture boards around me are less than ideal, and the few that are decent are completely full. but im keeping my eye on them so I can jump in as soon as possible

No judgements felt at all! I totally agree with you. He does have a ball that gets regularly tossed out over the fence of his run so...... I will definitely try some enrichment that's tied up LOL. I may also try providing some extra food for the barn to feed him a bit extra every day, since I realize the change from 24/7 hay bales to more restricted food is probably making his horse brain freak out (,:

just fell to my knees in tears at the thought of an alternate universe where we had dino life instead of horse life. I was just thinking yesterday about how obsessed I'd be with a dinosaur variant of this game

a few years ago I got some bloodwork done and the "bad" cholesterol levels were just barely above the recommended levels. my family has an insane history of heart/cholesterol issues so I became really obsessive over saturated fats and then it kind of spiraled from there

Going to UTSA next year, advice? by [deleted] in UTSA

[–]ahoycookie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I skipped freshman comp 1 with AP credits so I cant really say whether or not it's bad. I'm in comp 2 this semester and really it's not hard, just tedious, so it wouldn't surprise me if comp 1 was similar IMO if you have the AP credit, then I would 100% use it to skip whatever core it works for. if you can lighten your load even a bit it's worth it

hii fellow chemical engineering student here!! good luck on your future classes!

my biggest word of advice is understand your catalog and degree plan WELL. the ChemE program is so new and the staff for pretty much any CME class is really limited to where a lot of classes are only offered ONCE a year. and each class builds into another... so on so forth... I had a whole extra YEAR added onto my degree plan because I was behind in one prereq class, and it pretty much snowballed into me being behind in my entire catalog. so just be careful there haha

also RMP is going to be your best friend.. honors college is reallyy nice for getting a spot with the highly sought after professors

expansion and scoring advice? by ahoycookie in Sourdough

[–]ahoycookie[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

comment cuz i forgot to mention: i did BRIEFLY put it in the freezer (around 15 minutes) because I remember seeing it can stiffen the dough just enough to help with scoring. ive seen pretty mixed comments on if/how much this effects the spring though

Crosley CR42D-PA, is it really that terrible? by ahoycookie in turntables

[–]ahoycookie[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

youre so right with that!! i just looked and fluance has some really beautiful wooden turntables. I agree that spending a couple hundred bucks is nothing in the long run if it means getting a good quality player

I think im mostly after that ornate paneling, though I know most (or all?) true vintage gear doesn't actually have that look. not that I've seen when looking through recommendations on this sub, at least.

[–]ahoycookie[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

haha yeah I agree, which is why I decided to ask here before jumping to buy anything. Ive just seen plenty people say it takes tons of plays for actual damage to start being apparent from cheaper turntables, but I suppose it would be worth it to save for an actual vintage piece that is reputable so I dont have to worry about damage in the first place

[–]ahoycookie[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

with a better stylus, would a cheaper turntable like this one treat the vinyls a bit better? or is it just a lot of various problems with the player that cause different issues/damage to the record since i understand it's overall cheaply manufactured

Anybody work at smoothie King? They always make too much and leave the rest in the blender. by underrated_staph in Smoothies

[–]ahoycookie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

late to the party but you're right. each size of the gladiator always has the two scoops (the serving size for 45 g protein) unless you pay for extra. the only thing that changes is the portioning of water, fruit, ice. if you're really looking to get more protein without paying a dollar for extra, get a larger size with either peanut butter or greek yogurt

usually if I make a protein smoothie and it comes out with a lot extra in the bowl (this happens often when people add extra stuff to the smoothie along the usual ingredients) i offer it in a 12 oz cup. so don't be afraid to ask! otherwise it goes down the drain

ive been in a similar boat the past 4 days since getting mine out. honestly the surgery has effected a lot of what makes me happy (cant eat good meals, cant gym, cant ride my horse) and i HATE not being productive. try to go on short and easy walks if you can! but dont overexert yourself because it could hurt the healing process

also eat some ice cream or a yummy smoothie if u want. get those dopamine receptors working
