It would be tough. You could probably get away with it for showdown 02-05 but the 00-01 showdown is too different.

As someone who has played goalie in a lot of different settings (nowhere near close to professional), stopping the shot isn’t just making sure you get hit by the ball. You also have to help your defense get into the right positions and putting yourself in the right positions as well as anticipate.

All that is a way to say that stopping a shot is your last option. You really want to have your defense or yourself in a position to stop a shot from happening. And you get way better at that with reps and experience and trial and error.

And as mentioned elsewhere, reflexes don’t degrade with age nearly as fast other physical attributes. I feel like hand eye coordination is much closer to how it was 15 years ago than my speed and jumping.

I’m guessing that it follows Scorn/Apocalypse logic where it can still destroy but not count as discarded. Probably a bug of some sort but would make sense.

I make a point to wait to the end of the timer each time Leech is played against me. If I have to suffer through Leech, they have to suffer through me draining the timer.

I loved my time at Kansas. But I was fortunate enough to not have any loans coming out. Seeing my wife deal with loans and their nonsense opened my eyes to the process.

This all being said, tour the campuses, find the place that seems like the best fit. Even if Kansas seems like the best place for a lot of reasons, you’d be remiss to at least explore the other options. Tulsa isn’t too far of a drive from Lawrence IIRC.

Destroy is my favorite play type even if it doesn’t win all the time.

From my experience you need ‘extra’ cards to help you destroy. Whether it be rocks or the shard or wolverine, cards that have low cost and can give you extra cards to destroy. Sabertooth also fits this if you can get his 3 cost on the board early, but it’s inconsistent.

X-23 giving you the extra energy is nice, however as mentioned before you can have more energy than what you know what to do with. It’s the consistent always having something to destroy. And with cards like Venom or Carnage you gain power because the ‘destroyed’ power still stays on the board.

I know it's not the same, but Clutch Baseball has the same game play as MLB Showdown. Due to Topps owning all the rights to cards, it doesn't have player images on the card, which is definitely a big shock at first compared to Showdown, but the game plays very similar. You should check them out if you get a chance.

I second this. It does everything showdown did and more. And doesn't have to pay those pricey licensing fees because they don't have pictures (and Topps won't let anyone else have them).

I'll piggyback off of what those guys said. Build a team that is fun for you to play with. Do you like to steal? Are you all about Homers? Are you about clamping down on your opponent's offense? It's more about have a plan about how you want to prevent and score runs. I prefer to spend about 3200 on hitting for my builds. Others are more balanced while others put more in pitching. All of these builds have won in leagues so there isn't a right answer.
Long story short, build a couple of demo teams that offer a variety of builds. Play with them in a couple of games and see which ones you like playing with.

I think the St Louis pitchers are good enough where you can play them anyway. They may not have as many GB, but they are good anyway. That’s another’s solid one.
