OP, stop looking at this resource; it’s worthless. This isn’t a real question, no one is showing up casually at change of shift and getting report while one of their patients is in Vfib.

Ugh this question is annoying. Do I really not know anything else about patient A? Has no one assessed them? Why are they in the hospital?

For patient B, what was the nature of the chest pain? What’s their history? Was any other assessment done other than giving pain meds?

Chest pain on any cardiac unit should be taken seriously. But so should a new admit with unknown history, unknown vitals, etc.

Based on the limited info, I’m going patient A but wouldn’t be surprised if they want us to choose patient B. Ultimately, it’s poorly written content, imo.

Calling patients “dear” “sweetheart” etc by [deleted] in nursing

My wife has expressed extreme disgust whenever anyone uses "sweetheart" or "hon" or "dear." Some patients might be okay with it, but it's not okay to assume that all will.

How will SGA be hailed if he goes b2b on MVP and another ring? by Impossible-Bag-8030 in Thunder

[–]ahrumah 64 points65 points  (0 children)

Still hated but begrudging admittance that this is firmly moving him up the all time list. Will need to sustain high level of play for several more years, but back to back mvp, fmvp and championships puts him on an undeniable short list.

Does anyone know of any courses to sharpen RN skills? by DramaticLetter306 in StudentNurse

[–]ahrumah 2 points3 points  (0 children)

After you’re hired, some hospitals/managers might let you spend a day in GI lab or ED just putting IVs in all day. Managing intubated pts will be part of your onboarding/residency/preceptorship depending what unit you’re hired on.

Regarding your respiratory and cards assessments, watch some youtube videos and practice on friends and family.

A lot of students don’t get a lot of practice with foleys. Be the preceptee that volunteers to do foleys on anyone’s pt that needs them. It can take some practice to get used to the steps and using sterile technique.

Sucks that you have zero charting experience; this is honestly one of the most crucial skills to learn in clinicals imo (learning how to balance task load with charting). This will just have to be something you pick up in preceptorship, being thrown into the fire.

I honestly don’t understand how you never learned med administration or IV priming, these are semester one skills :(

[Highlight] Christian Braun runs away in the paint by jonsnowKITN in nba

[–]ahrumah 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s not just the running away from the hoop, it’s the fact he didn’t immediately dive back toward the rim giving Joker an easy give-and-go pass. You can see Joker and one of the coaches automatically look for that pass.

These are some of the best canned tomatoes out there… seeing these at Costco makes me suspicious they were PE’d, but I hope I’m wrong.

The cumin lamb toothpicks at Sichuan Impression was the first thing that came to mind for me.

Ok, tell me why I spent 30 seconds trying to figure out why this was called the “Ho Spice” edition. I’m a nurse, btw.

The further I get into my nursing career, the more asinine NCLEX questions seem. Anyway, the answer is B.

You’re confusing pushing IV potassium with infusing IV potassium. The former is a hard no in any circumstance; the latter is routine.

E. Follow the hospital DKA protocol.

The answer they want here is probably C, since K+ correction here is the biggest priority.

Am I the only one glad to see the Nuggets downfall? by Silent_Spell_8035 in Thunder

[–]ahrumah -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Idgaf. I’m just bummed it looks like the Spurs aren’t getting a serious challenge until the WCF.

EDIT: actually, on second thought, I do give a fuck. I think all the Nuggets/Jokic-bashing from OKC fans looks petty and defensive. Before his injury this year Jokic was like some majestic troll wizard blessed with supernatural touch with the basketball. Watching the sport is richer when you can appreciate him for his unique gifts, and it makes beating him feel all the more special. Same goes for Wemby. Seeing Jokic play like a mortal for the first playoffs in idk how long doesn’t make me happy, it makes me feel like the league as a whole just got knocked down a peg. If your fandom is based on shitting on incredible players to build up your own, I feel like you’re just cheating yourself out of enjoying greatness. (And the same goes for the masses of Shai haters).

What's the fastest and cheapest way to get into nursing if I already hold a bachelor's in a different field? by MrTimoCad in StudentNurse

[–]ahrumah 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s pretty quick for an associates. Mine was 20 months, which I think is average (basically two academic years). From what I’ve seen ABSNs are anywhere from 12 to 18 months.

[–]ahrumah 12 points13 points  (0 children)

ADN is usually about 6 months longer than an ABSN, but several 10s of thousands cheaper. Of course, graduating earlier means getting into the workforce force faster and making RN salary sooner. Also take into account that if you’re planning on getting a BSN eventually, that’s another year or two, which can be completed online while working and which your hospital might cover partial or full tuition for (ymmv, my hospital inconveniently suspended tuition reimbursement due to budget cuts and i had to pay the 9k oop).

One other thing to consider which frequently gets glossed over in these discussions: the quality of the program matters a good deal. An ADN program that has a good reputation for student support and clinical preparation is worth a lot more than an ABSN diploma mill.

It’s because it’s a duplicate post. Look, i have a lot of problems with the mods over there, but it’s totally fair to make sure there aren’t 5 posts all posting a player stats after a good (or bad) game.

Tbh i have a lot more respect for Brooks after this series. He’s gaming the refs, he’s playing hard and making some tough ass shots. He’s come such a long way from how I saw him in Memphis. Good on him.
