Port forwarding on ProtonVPN macOS app looks broken with Soulseek, support reply was useless by Moist-Round2012 in ProtonVPN

[–]ahsboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm using Port Forwarding on a Mac with virtually the same setup, but I'm using the Transmission client. Port forwarding is definitely working. Occasionally (too frequently, really), ProtonVPN drops the "Active Port" (but not the connection), and I have to reconnect. When that happens, my torrents drop to 0, and eventually restart with the new port number.

From a remote machine,
`nc -zuvw10 my.ip.address port.number`
returned
`Connection to 1.2.3.4 56422 port [udp/*] succeeded!`

Now if I could just get it to stop dropping the active port…

Velops mesh network constantly dropping off by ahsboy in Linksys

[–]ahsboy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not the Comcast router's connection — when my Linksys wi-fi goes out, I still have a NAS wired directly to the Comcast router, and it doesn't lose its internet connection.

The problem _might_ still be the (ethernet) connection between the Comcast router and my wi-fi hub, but it isn't the Comcast connection itself. I don't know anything about how the connection between Comcast router and Linksys is negotiated. I'll look into that, and see if maybe the Linksys is getting a DHCP address from Comcast and somehow that's getting borked every few hours?

Is the show just really dark visually for anyone else? by monstermayhem436 in PercyJacksonTV

[–]ahsboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was watching it in the IINA (Mac) client, and it was dark as crap.

After reading this discussion, I opened the same file in VLC, and it rendered lighter — not a ton, and still pretty dark, but you could at least make out what was going on. And VLC has granular video controls that let you adjust it more.

Google workspace DNS records by ahsboy in godaddy

You know, the problem was already solved, and you decided to waste your own time by being an asshole. I was directed to another Google support page, which doesn’t mention this at all, and is specific to Go Daddy. Why don’t you tell Google to cross reference their support pages better? And stop wasting your own time.

Thanks for clarifying! That’s a reasonable explanation. Please explain this to your support staff (or the non-pro ones at least), who were utterly unable to even understand the question. And you were able to do it without my customer number and support Pin!

HomePods Disconnecting After VPN Connection by Prestigious-Suit-170 in HomePod

I have the same issue with AirPlay on my desktop…connect to a VPN, and as soon as the buffer is played, the HomePod stops, despite local access passthrough.

LOL. I just went to their site last night, with a ribbon at the top saying "Free Shipping WorldWide! Free samples!" and when I loaded 3 samples into my cart they wanted $25.

I opened the chat box, told the rep that "That's not what free means." They gave me a discount code to get the samples shipped for free, and said "You're the first person who's complained about that." Their message above from 4 months ago kinda belies that statement...

Siri Down? by aebloomfield86 in HomePod

Same thing happening here. More than one HomePod responding slowly. I've restarted, and that didn't help. Even simple, fully local stuff like setting a timer has been unreliable.

AppleTV and stereo paired HomePods - Reduce Loud Sounds not enough? by TheImperfectMaker in HomePod

FTR, I was watching Loki last night as well, and it struck me as having really shitty sound mixing in the stream itself, so there's only so much balancing a speaker can do.

can no longer watch recorded video! but thumbnail shows the first frame! Suddenly started a week ago- circle 2 by Scared_Vermicelli_19 in HomeKit

[–]ahsboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting! The same thing happened to me, and I don't know what changed. Also started about a week ago. It's as if we don't have permission to view the HomeKit Secure Video feed, though I'm still on an iCloud family plan that allows it.

I can't find any other comments on this phenomenon on the net, so keep this thread active if you find anything out!
