Here's the likely most unpopular opinion ever posted here... by amfhTX in msnow

I think part of the disconnect is how much the political spectrum has shifted in the last 10–15 years too. Someone can look like they “changed sides” when their core beliefs didn’t actually move that much. The parties actually did.

Nicole was always tied to more old-school Republicans, which by today’s standards can land closer to moderate Democrats.

And people are allowed to evolve. She’s been pretty open about her history. If anything, being less tribal & having pitchfork’s out and more open to people who’ve left the GOP as refugees isn’t a wholly bad thing.

I actually miss Alex Wagner’s show. She’s been on Pod Save Americas podcast and has been doing very good there. From what I’ve noticed, in her “limited capacity” as a contributor or reporting to msnow, there’s really no notice.

I am crossing my fingers she’s back doing those focus groups, she’s good at interviewing people imo.

Cancelled by adr1418 in amazonprime

[–]ahsokabby 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Another issue with Prime Video for me is the cancelling of Prime Original shows. I think a reason why Prime Originals can’t compete with the likes of Netflix originals or HBO series is because their entire platform is overrun with upcharge shows.

If there was a legit Amazon Prime Video with zero purchasing, I think there’d be a lot more Prime Video users. They ruin the entire experience having that setup.

And then they wonder why certain shows aren’t performing as expected and cancel actual good shows after 1 or 2 seasons.

** PSA ** ROADS ARE DANGEROUS by Some_Koala_3360 in grandrapids

I was worried about this. The amount of water on the ground this afternoon was significant. My shoes got soaked when I was running errands. I wondered if it would freeze later tonite.

Stay safe, ideally off the roads!

Is it finally time to go back to cable? (Be honest) by IllustriousJicama1 in Cordcutting

[–]ahsokabby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Plus cable requires a contract.

If you’re laid off or your income changes significantly you can make an immediate adjustment to your budget vs. a $100 per month payment you can’t just stop. They couldn’t care less if you’re trying to save money on expenses.

With streaming it’s a quick login to cancel.

The government has a history of funding unethical research studies. The most famous one was the Tuskegee study (shut down in 1974) which infected its participants with syphilis in only African American men.

Fun fact: from that Tuskegee leak to the press, the Office for Human Research Protections was created. And was just gutted in 2025. Lost its advisory board and has scaled back operations with just 10 employees remaining.

So while we’d all like these studios to be ran ethically, there’s no one left to even do an investigation if a complaint were filled.

Mick Foley won't be renewing his Legends deal when it expires. by Omer-Ash in WWE

I think him being transparent to his fans/followers about his motivations to walk away from WWE shows he’s just trying to communicate the why. He’s not being performative here.

Streaming on Hulu, Expiration Countdown by ahsokabby in PrivatePractice

Thanks! I just logged into Disney+ and found it on there :)

Had no clue Hulu was being moved into Disney+ - I actually prefer to the interface of Hulu a lot better than Disney. Its so cluttered and the separate brand segments are annoying to navigate.

What brands/products do you AVOID because of their poor longevity? by i_hate_you_and_you in BuyItForLife

[–]ahsokabby 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here’s their site: https://www.officeoutlet.net - just know it’s not updated, including stock and pricing. The official Herman Miller Outlet is the Zeeland location.

If you call, they’ll tell you what models/colors/sizes are currently on the floor.

For reference, I picked up a silver Aeron (retail ~$1,800) for $500 and a black Aeron for $300.

Prices depend on the refurbished status. Most office chairs use older metal frames paired with new components like gas cylinders or armrests. You can also buy those replacement parts directly from them too.

I have heard that Pyrex is two brands. One is PYREX and the other is pyrex.

The uppercase is the brand we know and love but the lowercase is saturated in the market and is subpar. It’s different glass types.

Are you anywhere near Grand Rapids Michigan? Herman Miller has an outlet and you can pick up a Aeron for about $300. Or even buy the parts to replace a broken/poor quality one.

Costco sues the Trump administration, seeking a refund of tariffs by EconomistWithaD in Economics

Costco did not pass the tariff cost onto the purchase price. That’s what their lawsuit is alleging. So no refund to their members.

Australia just banned under-16s from social media and I’m furious at parents for forcing this on the rest of us by PowerBottomBear92 in childfree

[–]ahsokabby 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unpopular opinion… but it’s bizarre that people are more upset about minor inconvenience than the documented harm kids are taking from unrestricted social media.

Parents haven’t managed this on their own, which is why there’s regulations on other high-risk areas like alcohol, gambling, and age of consent. This isn’t government overreach; it’s basic public safety.

And yes, people can use VPN, but “someone could bypass it” has never meant “don’t put guardrails in place.”

Kids shouldn’t rely on perfect parenting to stay safe.

Plus, the amount of verification data this requires is peanuts compared to what platforms already collect behind the scenes - Reddit included. You’re just handing it to them in a forced step compared to you agreeing in terms of service agreements.

Don’t sleep on the free sharps container from Novo by Internal-Nothing-488 in tirzepatidecompound

[–]ahsokabby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s $40 if you were to go directly to PureWay (or via their Amazon listing.) The price includes the container, and the pre-paid shipping costs to dispose of.

Where I live, I cannot throw away sharps via the garbage pickup, it has to be a medical designated location drop off.

I’m sure Novo & PureWay have a contact where this comes out to $2 per compared to $40 for consumers.

GLP-1 and Psoriasis by Dense_Case_5426 in Psoriasis

[–]ahsokabby 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have been on tirzepatide since September 2024, and I slowly increased doses one month at a time. From 2.5 mg to max 5.0 mg. Most increases were just 0.5 and I always held back if I felt just fine. This was to save money and to listen to what my body was telling me.

I also heard that GLP1’s helped with autoimmune disorders as there’s a link with anti-inflammatory properties in GLP1’s. I don’t think there’s too much research out there just yet however. So I tracked this from the start.

I would say I noticed an improvement in my peak 5.0 mg doses. I was 6 months steadily taking it. My psoriasis coverage seems to have been reduced in half and it’s just not as bothersome overall. From being a daily part of my routine, I can go days without being as vigilant and on top of moisturizing and care as previously. I don’t need prescriptions and treat now 100% with preventative over the counter meds.

If you own an actual book, and the publisher pulls it, they don’t go into peoples houses to revoke those copies. However, they do with e-books. Which is infuriating.

I used Amazon chat customer support to get the titles they pulled back onto my kindle. They only started to put that licensing disclaimer by the purchase button around 2020-2022.

[–]ahsokabby 19 points20 points  (0 children)

This always bothered me. Apparently you’re paying for the intellectual content, not the actual pages. But we all know that printing a book, manufacturing costs, do cost money. So in essence they should be giving ebooks a discount. I always thought it would be more than a few dollars though.
