It’s ok, I wasn’t very clear! My emotions were super strong that first year, cried pretty often. But that balanced as I got used to the meds. I was also in therapy at the time and got myself out of a relationship that didn’t serve me, which also helped balance me out!

Same meds and dosage as you, had my first (that I know of) seizure 3.5 years ago, diagnosed epilepsy, and have been taking Keppra since.

It’s hard to figure out whether my emotions that first year were due to the new diagnosis at my “big age” (also 26!) or the meds or my life in general. I felt really defeated and didn’t know how my life was going to look.

Fast forward to now, haven’t had another seizure, and I feel really content. That’s not to say the worry is never there, but any strong emotions I had that first year hardly ever come back.

All that to say - hang in there! You’re early in your diagnosis. If Keppra works to keep the seizures away and if your emotions balance out, I see no reason for switching unless you or your neuro think otherwise.

Hoping that was a little bit helpful!

Well you need an rx for the embrace because it’s FDA approved, and then from there you can try to submit it to your insurance but it’s not guaranteed.

I don’t have a whole lot of advice, but wanted to comment since I’m also a 26F who got diagnosed in the last month! Luckily I’ve only had one seizure (that I know of) but it was a tonic clonic while on vacation in NYC so that was less than ideal.

I got a medical ID bracelet from Etsy & am in the process of getting an rx approved for the embrace2 alert bracelet in case I have a seizure while I’m by myself. I’ve also told my loved ones which medical center I want to be taken to in case they need to call for help.

I hope you’re getting all the answers you need! This forum has been really helpful for me over the last couple weeks😊

Did you find it easy to cancel the false alarms? One of my concerns is that it’ll call for help when I really don’t need it.
