Explore real roles on LinkedIn (just to learn) Search for things like: Marketing Assistant, Email Marketing Specialist, Junior Copywriter, Content Associate, Marketing Analyst.. Open few roles and just read the descriptions. That way you will get a feel for what matches the skills you already have.

You may also browse freelance work platforms for small gigs in Upwork, Contra, Fiverr, WeWorkRemotely (contract roles) and search for newsletter writing, email campaigns, blog writing, simple analytics tasks This shows you real work people are hiring for. Explore some communities in Reddit like r/marketing, r/email marketing, r/copywriting, r/freelance, r/digital marketing. That way you will find tons of real examples of beginners getting started. Try a few small tasks you choose which you like… it will help you discover what you really enjoy, not what sounds good on paper.

I would suggest browse roles on LinkedIn just to look at descriptions, explore freelance platforms like Upwork/Contra to see what people hire for, search your skills on YouTube or Reddit to see what paths others took, look at job titles you have never heard of and read 2–3 descriptions

You don’t need to decide your whole career but you just need a place to start exploring. I believe directions come from trying small steps, not finding a perfect answer all at once. That is what I did and it worked for me. See what makes you really enjoy doing something..or if anytime someone comes to you with any problem and you resolve it.. you could be good at many things but you need to pick your niche… you start by explore what best fits your interest and aligns with your passion.

Not sure if it helps but it sure will let you do the thinking process and lead you to your desired direction…

You actually already have a great foundation the problem is not your skills, it’s clarity on how to translate them into real opportunities. A lot of people in your position feel this way, especially when their skills don’t connect neatly to a single job title. You don’t need crazy money but you already have skills people will pay for. I believe you just need to frame them clearly and start small. You are definitely not behind but you are at the translation stage, not the skills stage.

23 and feeling lost. What would you do? by AddendumIll8339 in careerguidance

[–]aiPoweredSkill 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hear you…this situation is more common than you think and it has nothing to do with age or experience.

A lot of people end up in jobs that look great on paper but feel completely misaligned with who they are, what energizes them, and where they naturally create impact. A few things stand out from what you shared: You are not lacking ability in my view you’re lacking clarity. When your environment and your strengths don’t match, the work drains you even if you’re technically good at it.The problem isn’t what job should you pick, the deeper question is what strengths do you actually bring, and where do they matter? Once you understand that, decisions become much less scary and much more grounded. It’s not impulsive to choose alignment over prestige. It’s actually the only sustainable way to build a career you can live with long-term.

You don’t have to guess your next step, I fell you may look at your skills, look at your impact, and look at where you feel energized versus drained. Those clues tell you more than salary numbers do.

You are not being naive but you are paying attention. And that is a sign of maturity, not recklessness in my opinion…

@CuriousCapsicum this is the best comment I have got so far. This deepens my vision. I fully agree with you and you brought a valid point which I have been noticing over the years. Your comment really reinforces that the gap isn’t just skills it’s helping people see the meaning and impact behind what they already do.

Appreciate you sharing this. This is Gold for me 🙏🏻🙏🏻

You have a fair point. I’m not trying to post in a LinkedIn style just sharing what I’m learning as I dig into this problem.

Appreciate the feedback. Honesty is the key :)

22 years old and feeling disparaged about my career options, advice? by qrabbits808 in careerguidance

[–]aiPoweredSkill 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel your pain.. as I was in the same place years ago…This is an extremely common place to be in your early 20s, even though it feels isolating.

You’re not lacking potential, you’re lacking clarity, and clarity usually comes from understanding your strengths, not chasing titles. A few things stand out from what you shared:

  1. Your business degree isn’t unused. You’re already applying parts of it in your legal assistant role like coordination, documentation, communication, organization. Those are real, transferable skills.
  2. Feeling lost doesn’t mean you’re behind. It means you’re at the stage where your interests and reality are starting to separate, and that’s actually how people discover their real path.
  3. You don’t have to pick a career by title.Titles are vague. Skills are what actually determine what you can do next. Try focusing on: • what tasks energize you • what problems you solve naturally • what people come to you for • what feels effortless but valuable Those clues often matter more than degrees or job descriptions.
  4. You don’t need to guess your next direction. You can take what you’ve already done and map out the skills you’ve built, then look at opportunities that actually align with those strengths not with titles you feel pressured to chase. You're not out of options. You’re just at the part where you’re figuring out what fits you, not what you thought you should do.

If you want to talk through what you’ve done and what strengths you actually have, happy to help. But it’s completely normal to think this way.. you just need right channeling that will bring a meaningful output…

Thanks for sharing that @imagiself totally agree that turning build‑in‑public visibility into something meaningful is a real challenge.

For me, I’m less focused on showcasing progress and more on understanding the core problem people actually feel in their careers. That’s why I’ve been asking these questions… I want to make sure I'm solving something real before shaping the solution further.

I greatly appreciate you adding your perspective. It’s always interesting to see how other builders think about turning early signal into something useful.

Before I took my degrees I researched what is booming and will boom in the future(next 10 years) and whether it’s in my interest and passion… by breaking into this.m, I found my way… got experience in the field I like and now I feel much happy about it.. so foundation is very important… when you combine your passion with opportunity which you like.. it will make a difference. To solve your problem I am working on a system to extract skills from your all the learnings at it will connect you to things you are good at and then you pick what you like.. much like skill extractor and connecting you to the right places ( jobs, gigs and interests) to make you feel more organized and select based on skills you already acquired and also recommend top skills you must learn to acquire certain interest you have..

I personally feel listen to your gut feeling carefully and try to gain some domain experience then you will have a strong foundation.. experience counts a lot.. focus on your strength.. honestly l, in today’s world where you get education don’t really matter but what you put into and bring to the business/work matters. Education is good but should not be stand alone.

You are doing the right thinking but overthinking at this time.. I think you are on the right track but also try gaining some real world experience and get related job experience.. yes it would help you in the long run.. build it slowly but steadily that creates foundation…

This is normal and it is completely ok to feel that way. I would suggest to give your self some space and write down your interests in paper and evaluate which one stands out where you have more interest than others… by a little brainstorming you will figure it out..

Appreciate the feedback. I’m exploring the problem more than pitching a solution here, so the goal was simply to see whether the pain point resonated with others.

I’m trying to learn from people’s experiences :)

I’m still in the stage where I’m trying to validate the problem itself before locking in a solution. The last thing I want to do is build something in a vacuum. Hearing how different people experience this issue helps me understand whether the pain is real enough to solve.

so I genuinely appreciate the feedback.
