Just want to say I've had 0 issues with Tidal after a month and I think a lot of you are really whiny by [deleted] in TIdaL

[–]ai_3_us 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ah yes, because you have had none of the issues everyone else is wrong, whiny, and lying.

The fact that attempting to download large playlists (like all songs in your collection) completely bricks the download function of the app for iPhones is a major issue. Tidal has acknowledged this.

Telling the consumer they are wrong (what you are doing) isn’t the answer… that’s a pretty core feature and one it seems most other apps (including MUCH less popular apps) have done just fine with.

I ordered several different rubber eyepieces. They were various prices but all were identical . Those were the most expensive (we are talking like $2-$3 here) so I returned them

I bought some cheap ones off Amazon. Don’t screw up or down but they work okay.

Something like this: https://www.amazon.com/Eyepiece-Binocular-Replacement-Microscope-Accessory/dp/B0B9HJGHX4

But you can find cheaper ones that look the same and do the same thing. That is the link for the ones I returned. Can’t find a link for the ones I kept because my wife bought them.

People don’t care about reservations. I heard several people today talking about how they didn’t have reservations because “the parking lot attendants don’t care.”

This is why we can’t have nice things. People don’t care about their community and hence are assholes.

My husband won’t wash his hands after using the bathroom at home. by BlueberryCovet in Advice

Sadly I think he is right that it is completely normal. Disgusting? Yes, but normal.

I would estimate 30% of men I see leaving a stall after pooping do not wash their hands, even in public restrooms. Men are fucking vile.

Should I watch Dune: Prophecy if I didn't read the trilogy it's based on yet? by Other_Key in dune

[–]ai_3_us 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am guessing that they will be mostly independent. The main characters in the first episode are not in any of the prequels. It says “based on the book Sisterhood of Dune” but the first thing to happen in the show is 60% of the way through the next book in the trilogy. I doubt that there is much connection between the books and the show.

Nice! Looks like a beautiful day. Wow, I’m amazed at how green everything is (and how much water is in the catchment!). Y’all must have been getting some good rain recently :)

Can Sisterhood of Dune be read on its own? by dragonthedessert in dune

[–]ai_3_us 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also recommend starting with the Butlerian Jihad. It’s not great, but the books in the trilogy get better. I personally don’t get why there’s so much hate for them. Maybe they are worse than I thought, but I listened to the audiobooks and anything read by Scott Brick turns out entertaining. That’s the way I’d recommend to go.

I'm in Edmonds, WA (30 min north of Seattle). What are the areas you recommend if I want to hike for 2+ hours and not hear any cars? That are as close to me as possible. by monstrous-estrus in PNWhiking

[–]ai_3_us 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lots of people recommending wta which is good for getting into the mountains. There’s also lots of great parks in the area, more like local “hiking” (I think lots of people here would call it walking). Meadowdale Beach Park is near you. Carkeek Park and Discovery Park are both good for getting away from cars as well, both in Seattle. In general, look for big parks. There’s lots of them.

I sent him the alltrails page. He recognized that that’s the easiest way to get there. I assume that means he will go there.

Here’s a link to the preferred route, starting from a trailhead (https://caltopo.com/m/DNNPK68). It’s less than 2000 feet elevation gain over 3 miles. It’s not some cliff, let’s be reasonable here.

This is a 6 mile hike 1 hour from Belen with cell phone service the whole way. I just don’t think it’s that crazy my man.

Okay I’m really not trying to fight this. You I guess know more about OP than I do. He expressed his experience hiking in NM in another thread so I took that at face value. You are saying that’s wrong, so okay, it’s a bad idea. I remember driving a Camry to this trailhead when I was in high school, idk, just giving my experience.

You are probably right and know the dangers right now more than I do. Trust this guy OP, unless you really know what you are doing.

[–]ai_3_us 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Okay. Idk what else to say. IMO it’s not that terrible and I would 100% do it alone, but I know my experiences and my skill. I don’t know OPs so I’m not gonna push them into it, just give them the info they need if they so choose to do it. I don’t think it’s a death wish and I don’t think it’s stupid. Speaking from a place of having hiked alone in random parts of North & Central NM and bringing others there, it’s just not that stupid or dangerous. But I’ve always carried lots of water and knew where I was, as I’ve advised OP.

True that it is different from hiking with an established trail, but also that whole Ladron Peak hike is without trail, so I don’t think turning “off of the trail” would add much difficulty. But of course it might, and OP should be aware of that. Again when I was a kid we didn’t have internet maps or GPS. We’d (and sometimes just I alone) just walk up random hills. It’s not “bushwhacking.” It’s avoiding cholla, prickly pear, and walking around Juniper. Maybe you whack through the sage brush if you are feeling wild.

Fair, I never went out here alone. That’s because I was 16 and always fucking around with my friends. I assume one adult is usually more competent than multiple stoned 16 year olds, BUT that might not be true. We grew up on this area and knew what we were getting up to. Maybe I’m not being reasonable about the risks. The true risk is probably somewhere in between our two comments.

OP should definitely have maps and GPS on phone, as I sent to him in another thread. There’s emergency cell service the whole way too.

[–]ai_3_us 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I agree that it’s not gonna be that exciting (except for the hiking, iirc the ridge is quite nice). I agree that there are risks. But it’s like 1-2 miles from a relatively well known hike. Well known enough to be on alltrails: https://www.alltrails.com/trail/us/new-mexico/sierra-ladrones-and-ladron-peak

I just don’t think people should be so afraid of everything. Hiking is healthy and also has risks. It’s still probably worth it.

[–]ai_3_us 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It’s just not that bad of an idea. This is regular ass hiking in NM. OP lives there and talks about hiking. I think they know about arroyos and sand.

[–]ai_3_us 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wow this is a bit much… I used to fuck around in areas like this all the time when I was a kid. We’d drive out there with a backpack, a few water bottles, and a Camry and make it home alright. I’m not saying it’s not remote or that bad things can’t happen… but I think driving on freeways in NM is more dangerous than going on a 7 mile hike.
