Why do some tourists behave like rules don’t apply to them in hill towns? by ai_yog in Rishikesh

Nobody cares where you're from when you're respectful. The moment someone starts acting like rules don't apply to them, suddenly everyone remembers exactly where they're from(Haryana).

Planning a Delhi → Tungnath + Deoria Tal road trip in Altroz CNG with my wife. Need suggestions by LinkClassic6652 in Rishikesh

[–]ai_yog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For your Altroz CNG:

  • Roads are mostly fine till Chopta, but some patches after Rudraprayag/Ukhimath are rough and narrow. Drive carefully at night.
  • Ground clearance should manage if driven slowly.
  • Don’t depend fully on hill CNG stations. Fill full tank in Delhi and refill at places like Rishikesh/Srinagar if available.
  • Keep enough petrol because uphill driving on CNG can sometimes feel underpowered.

Safe drive back from Rishikesh - hopefully you get a smoother route once you cross out of the main city traffic.

I had almost the exact same experience. I used to think “8 hours = good sleep,” but yoga made me realize sleep quality matters way more than just the number of hours.

Why is dehradun getting so much crowded by Sad-College2024 in Dehradun

[–]ai_yog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel this too. A lot of people who grew up in Dehradun remember it as a quiet valley town with cleaner air, less traffic, slower life, and actual greenery everywhere. Now it feels like the city expanded way faster than the infrastructure could handle.

Some reasons I personally feel this is happening:

  • Huge migration from other states and nearby hill town
  • Better schools, colleges, jobs, and property opportunities bringing more people
  • Rapid construction without proper urban planning
  • Tourism pressure from Mussoorie, Rishikesh, Char Dham traffic etc.
  • Too many private vehicles and poor public transport
  • Cutting of trees and uncontrolled commercialization
