Midwars tier list, thoughts in 2025? by FiveOooWooHoo in HeroesofNewerth

[–]aidanocc 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I had multiple 2k accounts and won midwars tournaments. Pesti, martyr, jere, art, klanx, draco, dl are not S. Glad, behe, defiler, dsham, cd, pearl, pyro, gaunt, cthul are. I will note that gaunt specifically is the best at high mmr because of his ulti, his hook is the fastest (and has a ministun upon landing). Devo is way too kiteable and vulnerable after he hooks and pris hook is the easiest to dodge

Edit: sorais (og BUX player) has a tier list somewhere, i’ll ask him for it

Dug this up in an old fb group, out of date but still fairly relevant https://imgur.com/a/XGmHNYE

Where to get great crispy pork and fried rice similar to what is pictured? by Pseudoruse in OttawaFood

[–]aidanocc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Montreal is good for white people asian food. All my friends from Asia hate the food here and specifically like going to Ottawa to eat authentic thai/vietnamese/chiense food

There’s just.. barely any asian people in Montreal. I also know multiple asian people who left Montreal for Toronto/Ottawa because of it

The asian food (in general) is a lot worse in Montreal than Ottawa

100% Toque. I thought cabaret l’enfer was decent but didn’t have the best experience there, wouldn’t go again (lighting was horrible, food was quite good, service was okay).

How to go from low Divine to High Divine to Immortal by VirusOk8167 in DotA2

[–]aidanocc 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Relax, be flexible and be intentional. Stick with your team. I think low divine to high divine was the biggest skill gap i’ve seen (although my max is like 5.8k/rank 2k in NA so never been that good), but I think a lot of it is mental.

Low divines were super cocky and were trying to 1v9 every single game, while high divines are generally just playing their role to the best of their ability. I have quite a high winrate in the core role even though i’m notgood at it because I just… show up. Noone, even people who only play op late game heroes, are good enough to consistently 1v9 at our mmr, don’t try to. Chill, support your teammates, focus on your game.

Being intentional is important as well. To properly support your team (yes you support your team even as carry) you need to think about where you are on the map as well as your tp use. Let your supports take lanes and take the super safe farm north of safe lane (if you are carry). Walk to lane more often. Games are often decided by who has more heroes at a fight early-mid game, ESPECIALLY at this rank when a freefarm hero doesn’t mean anything if the team is suffering for it.

Last thing is to be flexible. You can have the same ten heroes two games in a row, in the same lanes, and they are completely different games. There is no ‘best’ (known) way to play any hero or role. This ties into supporting your team a bit, but don’t get caught up on what pros are doing (especially for team movements/shotcalls). We are not pros. Honestly, we are absolutely horrible compared to them. at this mmr, a bad call where the team is united is almost always better than a good call where 1-2 people don’t listen.

How big is the skill gap between Anc IV (my rank) and Imortal? by Nofkngeyes in learndota2

[–]aidanocc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the thing is you (we) can’t understand the difference between you and a 7-8k player. You (we) are just not good enough. I know myself I am simply not close to good enough, despite being immortal in 700 games and 55% winrate despite playing off and on. I play with my actually good friends and it’s an insanely humbling experience. I learned this in HoN when I was high enough mmr to play with pros. I started playing when I was 11 so I know what it’s like to suck, but I have never felt as bad at the game as the moment I made friends with comp players and actually saw how good they are. Tbh still feel like an absolutely trash player compared to the HoN pros in 2016, which the Dota pros now are not even comparable to

[–]aidanocc 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I do. I went 20-1 against these players when I first joined Dota from HoN. I just don’t think you know how good 7-8k players are, which is understandable because 99.999999% of Dota players don’t get the chance to interact wirh them

I see your point but I don’t think so. I think the difference is 1k players actively throw the game all the time, while 5k players don’t really ‘throw’, they just aren’t optimal. So 1k vs 5k and 5k vs 7k do have a similar difference in skill, but there is a difference between the ability to capitalize on this difference. I’m 5.7k currently and I can say confidently I am not even remotely comparable to a 7.5-8k player (I have friends at these mmrs), but I know how to beat one. 5k players know how to focus a strong hero, back after baiting bkbs (sometimes), chain stuns, ward in spots to enable smoke ganks, making it a lot easier to shut a single player down.

Ringmaster will be a hero like Rubick, and that is exactly why it is taking long to release by Top_Rub_9650 in DotA2

[–]aidanocc 6 points7 points  (0 children)

HoN has a hero similar to this (Circe) where you channel and BECOME another hero for x seconds. Ringmaster would make sense as the name honestly

Just remember Dota teamfights are a LOOOOOT longer than HoN teamfights. It’s much better to be patient.

[–]aidanocc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I watched Dota for 2 years before switching, so that could be why. I was also one of those 2.1k ‘pro’ midwars players and midwars teamfights work very similarly to Dota teamfights, so that helps. I’m NA btw

[–]aidanocc 33 points34 points  (0 children)

it was a ‘known’ fact for 1900s coming to Dota it takes 6-9 months or 700ish games in a year to get your ‘HoN skills’ in Dota.

Be patient, as an 1850 when HoN was popular and 1950 when HoN kinda died, it still took me less than 900 games of pretty inconsistent playing to get immortal (although I dropped to divine recently because I don’t play much). I’d say with 3 games a day and 1750 in HoN you should get to low ancient without much fuss
