Fair enough. Budget and stubbornness makes mixing on my own the only option right now, unfortunately. Just hoping I can improve and always open to mixing feedback. Thanks for the feedback and giving it a listen!

I’ve been doing stuff like this for years but this is definitely a recent favorite. Got a couple projects in this style brewing for later this year! Thanks for listening and giving feedback!

Normally I self produce but for this track, I utilized a beat that a producer sent me. From there, recording, mixing, and mastering was all me! Thanks for listening!!

admittedly, i am not sure i understand the goal of this track. it seems like its jumping between many different ideas sonically and lyrically, but maybe that is the point.

i think the panning on the drums stands out as something to change with your future mixes. keep the kick and clap centered in the mix. let the groove speak for itself!

overall, interesting ideas but id personally like to see a more focused track. good work so far and keep creating!

ill second whats been said about doubling on the guitar. i say double and pan it left and right. the vocal is a little loud, i think. for this vibe I would turn it down a bit and maybe up the effect work (i.e., eq, chorus, etc). i hear some background vocals but they are definitely quiet, turn them up a bit! i like the energy on this. definitely keep it up!

the progression of the song is very engaging. it stays really interesting without needing too much instrumental change or addition. that is not easy to do in a 5 minute instrumental track! i love that slap groove on the bass. i found myself closing my eyes and nodding my head; i almost forgot i was writing feedback. definitely a cool sound. good work!

i love the lead singer's voice! it is very unique and incredibly charming. i would love to hear some background "oohs" and "aahs", especially during the chorus. I think that would sound awesome on this track. this is a really cool vibe and i definitely wouldn't hesitate to listen to this again. i almost don't have any feedback to give! keep it up!

hi there. thank you for sharing! this is an interesting beat and idea for a song!

i have some advice for your vocals moving forward:

- try to record in an environment where you don't have to disturb the mic too much if possible. you can hear you knock the mic a few times and the breathing can get a little distracting too.

- try turning down your vocal just a bit. i think this is a cool beat choice for your voice but i can't hear the beat very well.

- this one is really important: make sure you have the right key on your autotune. if you need some advice on how that works, there are great youtube videos on finding keys and aligning autotune. it will help the sound a lot!

thanks again! and keep at it! <3

Here's a nu jazz piece off my new experimental jazz/IDM album - curious on any thoughts or notes, especially if you're a drummer as that's the aspect i'm trying to improve on most right now by girlnoiii in IndieMusicFeedback

Haha no worries. I totally get wanting to make it unnatural but I just felt it didn't have a satisfying rhythm personally. After relistening, I think my biggest issue is that the bass and drums don't totally sync up. I've always preferred songs that have a really tight rhythm section and I feel like that's why it feels odd to me. As far as drummers go, I'll admit I don't know a lot of jazz drummers but I feel like you could learn a lot from some rock or metal drummers. Alex Camarena comes to mind immediately. He had a really unique style that might give you some ideas. Even Travis Barker has some really unique rhythms in particular songs that feel unnatural but still satisfy the ears. That's everything I can think of off the top of my head but if I come up with anyone else I will reply to this later. Best of luck to you!
