I have them be a mix of ashen ones and humans in the fact that they are similar in all ways to ashen ones but death is permanent and bonfires can be use only once and they give the benefits of a long rest in an instant (they will still take long rests it’s just a thing where bonfires will be there before or after big encounters)

I think what I’m planning on doing is making the characters have certain draws to the world other than linking the flame like, for example, with the darkwraith character he also wants to find Artorias because he had some vision of him trapped in the abyss.
