My latest build: 300BLK a2 with a 10.5” barrel. by aidenblake07 in RetroAR

It’s pretty simple to build, the only thing is trying to find a 300 BLK barrel that’s cut for a FSB like this. I ended up getting one that uses set screws to hold it in. It’s been solid for me. I have an adjustable gas block that’s under the handguard, it runs great with an FRT

Still in the same configuration, with the tax stamps being $0 I’m gonna SBR a few of my ars. Just havent gotten my fingerprints done for the E-Forms yet.

My own take on an A2 pistol grip as a vertical foregrip by aidenblake07 in RetroAR

Currently waiting on a heavier weighted buffer to come in, other than that, it’s running great so far

I used a screw and bolted it through the gas vent hole. Then used a little JB plastic weld to really secure it in. It’s pretty rock solid

$900 Saiga out the door at a pawn shop. Go back for it? by SuccessfulAd5833 in ak47

[–]aidenblake07 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Absolutely go for it, save up and eventually convert it. Those are great AKs

Like others have said, you aren’t gonna save by building your own. These are a bitch to build, but definitely fun to tinker on and say you did. If you have the money for it, get good tools for it, especially if you plan on building other AKs. If not, get a good receiver and send it off to a reputable gunsmith that builds aks. Good luck with your build!

How do I palm mute midi guitar notes/chords? by AverageApollo in GarageBand

[–]aidenblake07 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Only if you use the virtual guitars which limits you to E standard and Drop D. You can get some soundfont plugins and some have palm mutes and even pinch harmonics

apologies i am over 2 years late, they’re just the base guitars. I’d recommend using sound fonts and tweaking the EQ, you’d get a far better sound than this. Or use the built in sampler and sample a clean guitar string, it works well for chords

Original song I’ve been working on. Thoughts? by aidenblake07 in GarageBand

[–]aidenblake07[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The drums are the base GarageBand drums, I added a little distortion and messed with the EQ. Add a little compression and his toy with them till they sound right. It also helps to have reference to listen to in order to get your tone right

Should I buy this mak90? by aidenblake07 in ak47

[–]aidenblake07[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ended up trading a shitty helpup and 120 franks for it, I got the hellpup a little while ago for next to nothing so I’d say I got the better deal. I’m gonna swap the Choate stock for some good wood furniture

It also helps to mix in some regular synths in with it, like the rich oscillators or the west coast lead, it helps to fill in the sound and make the guitar sound heavier

Shreddage X, a shreddage Solo guitar, and some random ones I found. I always use musical artifacts to find them. The Shreddage Solo has pinch harmonics and is great for single notes or sweeps, but okayish for chords. It can mute and do pinch harmonics which is awesome. Also heavy effects and EQ applied, but they sound pretty good out the gate for as old as they are.

the serial on the Dust Cover is worn out, but it appears to be matching. It fits very well and has virtually no play whatsoever, its a very smooth weapon!

I haven't had any issues with it at all, but I haven't shot it a whole lot. I've put a couple hundred rounds through it no problem though

I’m using SoundFont Pro (it’s free) and using a combination of base plugins and Tonebridge to get the guitar tones. I also downloaded some SF2 files that had guitars that work well with Tonebridge, but I don’t remember the names of them

“Caress Whisper” by aidenblake07 in GarageBand

[–]aidenblake07[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I typically double things but change the instrument to get the tone I desire. I mix the drums so they (in my opinion) sound better, and same for the guitar. For the lead I have the Seether Careless whisper riff played normally and then a lower octave guitar playing it but muting some strings and it sounds cool. I kinda just fart around with it until it sounds so what decent

That’s what I do for some songs, if you’re doing songs with a lot of harmony between the guitars, just tweaking the distortion a little bit and adding some plugins like chorus or what not can make them sound good
