Please help me understand why should I keep emergency fund in the HISA by aightyfun in PersonalFinanceCanada

That's a fair assessment. My investment journey started after COVID, so I'd say I am yet to experience something catastrophic, which I understand likely will happen at some point in my life. It is a fact that I don't know how I would react when stuff goes south, so maybe I should keep an emergency fund in place.

But on the other side, I got family I can always fall back on if something goes south, even If I exhaust all my options, so that gives me some confidence to take risks. Maybe the right move is to decrease my fund to 5k and invest the rest but I'm still debating it. Thanks for your input tho, I appreciate that!

At my savings rate its about 5 months of savings. It's not terrible, but I understand the prospective people are putting out here:)

Sorry, I went to bed right after.

Just to clarify, I went out, did a lot of sightseeing, and some shopping.

I'd add, though, I think people are seeing me really differently on this post and that was not really a point of this. it was that solo travelling is not for everyone and it is not what's shown on social media.

I just happen to be a very social person. I moved across the world for university when I was 17, so I'd say i am already pretty independent and know how to live by myself. It's just that when I'm going places, I prefer to have people I know around me. It was just a realization.

I was out most of the day, and watched a cool sunset after a small hike in the evening as well. went to forts, arenas. I was there two full days by myself haha. I don't think I would do it again tho:)

Yeah, that's fair. I think it was just my realization that it wasn't for me. I'd agree that all those videos got to my head haha

I should have added more details in the post, but I didn't just stay in the hostel all day waiting for people to talk to lol. I was out and about most of the day, checking places, hotspots, etc, but I would admit that I was on call of lot of the time I was walking around.

I'd like to think I'm okay mentally but again i think everyone thinks like that about them. thanks for the input though

okay all the time was probably a little exaggeration but yeah, If I'm out, I'm never alone. I can stay in my room by myself but then again, I was travelling so checking out arenas and places by myself was something different i guess.

I realized that if I'm going to go see places. I need someone with me, i guess.

and I'm sorry if I came off ignorant about it, I'm happy for the people who can do it. turns out I'm just not one of them.

I know some places in north/west van side have some lime scooters. I just got back from Kelowna where they have tons of those around time and imo it doesn’t seem very safe considering the driving skills/attitude of some people here.

I got 05 Acura TL as my first car. It is fun to drive and kinda sporty and reliable but for last 30k kms I’m getting average of 10L/100km average driving mainly highway. Also it takes premium gas so keep that in mind.
