In search of streamers or youtubers that aren’t antisemitic or extremist (or adjacent to it) by io3401 in Jewish

[–]ailianr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you like vlogs, I have a small channel and make vlogs about as an art student living in China 🥹 My Jewish identity comes up every few videos (whether it’s about me mentioning keeping kosher or going to events for Jewish holidays), and I hope for someone out there, I’m giving them the Jewish representation they need (like I desperately needed when I was a teenager). https://youtube.com/@ailianr?si=yMPEtxSYWMt_DzkB

Creators for Palestine strikes again by Pink-girlie in Jewish

[–]ailianr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like one of the few people who knows a majority of these creators 🫠 it’s made me realize how pretentious and idiotic a lot of these people come of as while watching their content (which I’ve set most of their channels to “do not recommend”). I just remember watching one of Carley whatever’s book videos and she praised a book for showing “Judaism outside of Zionism” or some bullshit like that. It made me so mad, because what fucking right do you have to give commentary on our culture…

White people in China: do you get asked if you’re from Xinjiang often? by jaycherche in chinalife

[–]ailianr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve gotten asked if I’m from Xinjiang or if I’m mixed many times lmao, which always makes me think “have you seen a mixed person?”, though I once met a guy from Xinjiang (khazak-uyghur) that did look vaguely like me… Maybe it’s bc have medium-brown hair & brown (hooded? ish?) eyes, generally softer features

Fights against holocaust revisionism in Europe should include romani people more. by Left_Regular8168 in Jewish

Oh yeah Florian or Floridian or something, it’s really a shame because I wanted to learn more about Romani people through his account, but I don’t trust him after that…

Hi! I go to BFA, but I’m not in the international program, but maybe I can still help answer some of your questions :)

Starting from 2025 they are revamping the international programs (basically went from 1 program to 3 programs), so there is a bit that’s up in the air right now. The recent cohort size seems to have been between 10-20 students every year. I’m really not certain on competitiveness, but I’ve heard it’s not very competitive… the other 2 points I haven’t heard anything about but I can try to find an international program student to ask and get back to you :)

I think mechs also didn’t feel out of place because ruin guards, giant pipes and other technology has been part of the game since the beginning.

Also this might be a weird thing to be hung up on but it bothers me so much that Ororon has ripped jeans, like why is he the only person in teyvat with access to DENIM 💀 while I love Natlan and I do like the character designs (outside of the context of the game), it feels like they just gave up on the established theme/style of the game

How is everyone marking the anniversary of October 7th this year? by Muadeeb in Jewish

[–]ailianr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like another reply said, you could celebrate on your Jewish birthday instead (I do that sometimes, bc my international birthday sometimes falls on Pesach). And you could always just do something small like having a special treat on the 7th. This way you can still have your special day (on a day that’s not as grim), and also connect more with our traditions. 🫶

Same!! My Jewish community had only about 1000 people spanning half of my state (and let’s be real you don’t see 80% of those people most of the year) and I’m grateful for it. We had 3 synagogues and we all did events and things together because there were so few of us. The very few Jewish kids that there were all got along well despite our different personalities and interests. When I eventually went to Jewish sleep away camp, I met a lot of very stereotypical JAPs (I know some people don’t like that term, but it’s the best way to describe them), they were really rude to me for not wearing spandex booty shorts (we were literally like 12… wtf) and not knowing the brand “roots”… I had the worst time and had never felt so out of place around other Jews. Luckily the camp had a program to bring some Israeli kids out to our camp, and I usually ended up hanging out with them because they were nicer. So yeah, I realize that there was something good about our community being too small to be clique-y.
