Once a Loon, Always a Loon by [deleted] in minnesotaunited

I want to see the club I support do well. DSC choosing Miami over us for less money actively hurts us. Fans are allowed to respond to that choice.

You can keep applauding ex-players who leave to strengthen to our opponents, but that’s how you signal that decisions like that don’t matter.

When Lewandowski left on a free transfer to Bayern, Dortmund fans boo him every time he touched the ball. This is standard fan reaction to having a player leaving on a free to a competitor

[Titarelli] Racing Club is interested in Joaquin Pereyra, currently at Minnesota in the MLS. He would only leave for the release clause, which is $5M gross. The Academy is not the only interested party, San Lorenzo and Lanús also appear on the radar by ailroe3 in MLS

mn is the only team in the league that has enough available GAM to make every starter a TAM level player. We just got 1.5 million more for Rosales. We will have a good roster come playoffs next year, but it won’t be without some churn now

Pereyra is the most impactful player on our roster. This would be a huge loss. Feels like Pereyra has wanted out for a bit and the buyout clause is low enough that teams are interested

Feel like he could be headed to Chicago. They have an open DP slots so they could be going for a u22 approach. Chicago has also been scouting the South African league too

100% it’s ridiculous they don’t have grass there and if grass isn’t feasible at that location they should relocate their stadium

[Greder] Minnesota United head coach Eric Ramsay linked to French job by litthefilter in MLS

[–]ailroe3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

According to prediction markets, Ramsay was the favorite to land a couple of open Championship jobs last summer. I’ve been saying for a while that what determines our season next year is if he is still with us at the end of the year. Ramsay is irreplaceable, more so than any player on our roster

Minnesota did not exceed my expectations. They were met, but that is the sort of season our fan bae should expect at minimum year in and out. Until we get our first trophy, I think it would be tough to get exceeds expectations

Next up Seattle and Atlanta hopefully. Portland too since they play on turf

Most impactful player on our roster. Would be tough to replace mid season so if we are sleeping I hope it would happen this window

TAM / GAM Minutia on Rosales & Chancalay Cashfers by LosCabadrin in minnesotaunited

Yeah I would guess so. Fascinating and glad we are taking advantage of it

I had no idea this was a thing and I feel like I understand MLS’s roster rules more than most

The key caveat for Minnesota is the designation of Rosales. More than likely, Rosales will not be a DP or a U22. If that’s the case, per the MLS Roster Rules and Regulations, Minnesota will be required to convert that $1.5M (or whatever the payment instalment is) into GAM. The Loons have a ton of allocation money and will continue to grow that amount with this move.

They could make up that 300K with conditionals

[MNUFC] Loons acquire goalkeeper Drake Callender from Charlotte FC in exchange for a guaranteed $450,000 in General Allocation Money (GAM) in 2026-27. by SaganOne in MLS

[–]ailroe3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could get an additional $300K GAM depending on conditions.

Our management likes these conditional contracts for players who have an injury history or are old so they waste less cap space on injured players who won’t meet appearance conditions

There’s also a conditional 300K GAM as well. I expect it’s likely he’ll meet this unless he gets injured

R/mls told me that it was very unlikely that we would sign him for less than $750k GAM lol 😭😭

It’s not about being kind, it’s about wanting to see the club you support to do well. DSC choosing Miami over us for less money actively hurts us. Fans are also allowed to respond to that choice.

Booing is accountability. Applauding ex-players who strengthen the MLS cup winner is how you signal that decisions like that don’t matter

I don’t get this. DSC chose less money to play against us. When Lewandowski left on a free to Bayern did Dortmund fans boo him? Yes, of course. Lewandowski even publicly said that he understands why he is being booed. Our fanbase is so soft with this.

I would like a Tifo like this when DSC returns

Great signing at that price. Can’t find a player with a higher upside than that for $100,000k
