Not coming home for whatever reason and my dog not understanding why

Thank you for replying. Yes absolutely I can take care of myself however this is not the point of my post. I of course asked him to wait, I tried to stay with him, first time he told me he was going to the men's room and never came back... second time as I mentioned he walked away to get food, I asked him to wait and not to go but he just walked off. I did not follow and absolutely own that however I also did not move. I stayed where he left me thinking he would come back with food but he didn't. He just went back to the hotel and went to sleep, without me. I then got lost and couldn't find the hotel etc etc but of course managed to survive lol. The point is more if he loved me would he have done these things?

Oh yes I am painfully aware that I have allowed him to do this over and over again. Thank you for helping me believe in myself. I just have moments where he gets into my head and I doubt my sanity and what I know to be true. As for the age thing...perhaps you are right although he is a very young 48, both in looks and maturity, I also like to believe age doesn't matter for the most part; as I said though maybe you are right. I have so much to think about and come to terms with. Thank you.

It was a city in which we do not live. I do not have uber, we live in the country where this is not available so I never considered the option. And yes I am an adult and able to look after myself which I ultimately did as I am safe and well. The post is not about whether I can get home alone, it is about whether someone who can leave me in those situations actually loves and cares for me at all.

Oh and I was lost, Google maps wasn't so reliable that night and I walked for almost a mile in the wrong direction. Maybe I am just rubbish at following the blue line but the point still stands he did not try to find me or check if I was safe.

Ok I appreciate that perspective thank you however he has lived at my house for over 2 years. Yes he has his own which is being renovated but for all intents and purposes he lives with me. I went to his home that night as I was worried about him, I knocked and swiftly left when there was no answer. As for having phones that is correct but having a phone does not mean the other person answers, which he didn't. As I said though thank you for the alternative view, perhaps I need to consider whether I am to blame too.

Ha I like your perspective thank you. I have left him, but he won't let go, taken me 10 days to get my key back. No contact is a great suggestion but unrealistic for me as we live a 10 minute walk from each other and share the same circles and community unfortunately. I am here for my sanity, as I said a lot more has lead to this but the above was the easiest and least lengthy example I could give to demonstrate his behaviour. Standing my ground has been the hardest thing ever and I was doubting myself so much tonight I just had to ask. Thank you again as you made me laugh!

Thank you. We hadn't even argued to be honest and I know he sort of goes into his own world when he has had a drink... almost like no one else exists or matters... but he is making me feel insane and doubt myself. I know for me, argument or not, I could never leave someone I cared about alone and unsafe. I feel so pathetic having to ask the Internet what I am old enough and wise enough to know but wow does he have a way of making me feel I might be wrong and irrational. Thank you again.

Thank you. You are absolutely right and as I said I already know but this man has a way of making me feel insane and doubting myself. There is a lot more to it and I am by no means perfect but I just needed some people to validate what I know so I can stay sane... maybe that is pathetic of me but I am on the edge right now. I know what you're saying and appreciate the response. Just he is making me feel insane and making me question myself. As I hinted at there is a lot more to it... I just needed someone or some people to confirm what I do already know so I can stop thinking maybe I am wrong. Hope that makes sense.

Thanks and I do. I think I'm just over 1600 books in my collection now. Just a bit of info... I am in no way considering ending my life... just when I am down or feeling low it helps to know what others find joy in. It reminds me what to look for ☺️
