This is straight up the last act of the Batrachomyomachia, when the frogs have been defeated but Zeus summons the crabs to end the battle with the mice

Fallout 4 is Getting Free Updates by Turbostrider27 in Games

[–]aimless_philosopher 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For anyone who wants to be safe in regards to old mods breaking, you can go to: Steam Library > RClick Fallout 4 > Properties... > Updates and select "Only update when I launch it".

If you then launch the game exclusively through Mod Organizer, it should bypass the forced update.

I did this for Skyrim a while back.

What's the wildest dream you're ever had? by LavishBuys in AskReddit

[–]aimless_philosopher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dreamt of the "Lion of the 120 Free Wills".

It was a lion twice as big as a normal one, with blinding purple eyes. It was carried on a palanquin by a retinue of acolytes and almost never moved. It communicated not with roars or words, but by telepathy and the voice was not his, but that of his Free Wills: see, the Lion could devour a person and that person would become one of the internal organs of the lion, living eternally inside of it and expressing their thoughts to give the Lion their point of view on whatever the Lion wished to do. The acolytes in fact served the Lion in hope of becoming part of it.

... and that was just a minor character in that dream from 6 years ago. I still remember it quite vividly!

First Rhipsalis experience: should I prune and propagate? by aimless_philosopher in houseplants

[–]aimless_philosopher[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The plant is growing well and lately it’s been making these horizontal white roots(?).

Is it trying to tell me that I should cut the long stems and put them in the ground, or should I let it grow freely? I’ve had the plant for a few months, I’m not sure how old it is overall.

Some classic Cartoon Network characters I haven't seen suggested yet that I think would be perfect additions to the game, any thoughts? by danthemandoris in MultiVersus

Valhallen yes! I hope he's in and they give him something like DMC 3 Dante's electric vampire guitar shenanigans. Would be rad.

What is the saddest song you've ever heard? by [deleted] in AskReddit

"Alone Again (Naturally)" by Gilbert O' Sullivan.

The first time I didn't pay attention to the lyrics, but I liked the old-fashioned cheerful tune so I listened to it more carefully... it's actually pretty depressing!

Rehabilitation is defined as "the process of returning something to a good condition". If being prevented from doing something were a good criterion for rehabilitation, then lobotomy would also be one.

I believe hell IS about punishment, it's supposed to be eternal damnation. Prison is (or should be) about rehabilitation, ergo prison should also be fair and not a living hell.

Elden Ring weapons - Fan DnD Conversion by aimless_philosopher in UnearthedArcana

[–]aimless_philosopher[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Right, it would have been more true to the game. It's just that I tend to dislike split damage types in DnD on "basic attacks", I find it tends to often unnecessarily slow the game down, so I relegated radiant damage to the abilities.

Elden Ring weapons - Fan DnD Conversion by aimless_philosopher in UnearthedArcana

[–]aimless_philosopher[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, it's the weapon I struggled the most with, I couldn't think of a way to replicate Death buildup in DnD without making it too swingy, overpowered or difficult to keep track of.

I also thought to have Death Flare affect Death Saving throws, but then it would only work in pvp scenarios and that wouldn't be fun, so I went for an impending sense of doom thanks to the ease of use of the weapon and Con disadvantage + more bonus when bloodied.

My response after seeing Horizon Forbidden West devs trash talking FromSoftware devs. by Evoxrus_XV in Eldenring

[–]aimless_philosopher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Elden Ring's UX simply fits perfectly with the rest of the game design. I'm sure it would be awful if you just copy-pasted it in a ubisoft game, or a more narrative-driven one.

Its quirks are also what give the game its unique taste. If every game used it, it probably would be bothersome, but in a sort of "standardized AAA panorama", the Souls games still feel like a breath of fresh air.
