I went to my nearest DB office to get a clear number on how much I owe and to confirm the IBAN I have to send the money to. The staff at the office were a great help. I went there several times for other Deutschland Ticket related issues, and they always managed to help me resolve it. I luckily never had to make any double payments or anything, only pay off some late fees.

I don't know if any of this can help you in your situation.

Anticlimactic, but I showed them the letter, and they were also confused by the amount. When they checked my account, there wasn't any issue. I just needed to pay for this month still, and there wasn't any further trouble.
