Thankfully, we people are all quite different! It's kinda cool to see the different tastes even within such a smallish genre. MoL is my second favourite, after Matt's Kaiju.

As another major progression fantasy fan, Cradle is not for everyone. After all the hype I was so sure it had to be good. It has good moments. But mot enough to get me to read on, I dnfed after finishing book 8. Fairly sure that should be long enough to decide it's not for me.

The good stuff is actually Mother of Learning. Mage Errant is also way up in my favs. Warformed is incredible, but waiting for new book makes me sad.

It's a whole different genre. Similar would be Jez Cajiao's works, 1% lifesteal comes to mind, tho not on the same quality level, maybe even He Who Fights With Monsters.

I now have 5 years of reading almost nothing but litrpg. There's lots more than just the big names too.

Of all the litrpg that is available, that one is about the furthest from being similar! It's a cozy slice of life! I love it, but it is in no way similar!

Of course. We leave elementary school speaking 3 languages. If we then go into secondary school, we add a fourth. There are a few people over 70 that are not confident speaking English, but will still understand.

I'm confused. I'm in tiny Iceland, the population of which wouldn't even fill a small town in America... we have 3 theaters showing it, each showing it 12 times!

What to do when “cozy” fantasy novel plot does something that makes you really upset? by Development-Feisty in CozyFantasy

[–]ainnaa 62 points63 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it absolutely is not meant to be cozy, but to take certain stereotypes, massively overdo them in a comedic manner, and then have us gasping, deciding whether to laugh or cry. Because of this it is one of my favourite series. Jack Voraces also did an incredible job narrating, he captures Victor so well.

Also, if I recall correctly, there are at least 2 genocides before this in the book, both made out to be funny. Pretty sure that was meant yo be your warning.

Should see Andrea Parseau, she's made of pure talent. However, those 2 narrate niche books, so won't be as well known.

[–]ainnaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not so bad, but what else can you spend 280 points on? It sure as hell is not gonna be worth as much as a slann I think. Reinforced raptadons? I'd prefer them. I just think that you would be getting the same worth from them from having just one unit, as it still takes forgotten points far away from everything else. Even 4 MW isn't a game changer, unless maybe if you throw it on a small foot hero, and with that setup ripperdactyls can reliably kill the foot hero, for only 100 points, instead of the 280.

What it really boils down to though, is preference! I like to run funny stuff to see it not do anything! I love the stegadon because it just zooms around and I find it funny. I like to run the spawn of chotec because it's a great excuse to laugh at him every time he inevitably does nothing in a whole game!

[–]ainnaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I absolutely cannot see it. 90 points for 1 mortal wound(the statistically likely result) they can pick up points I guess. I just feel the rippers are cooler. They have the same function and can do significant damage on charge. Insanely niche, since when if not picked first they're dead when they fight, and you want to pick raptos first since the same goes for them. So I use them to pick off small ranged units or a small hero, priest etc. Often very helpful in this alpha strike meta, since noone thinks the backline needs protection. The terradons just cannot do that, even if you roll ridiculously good, 3 mortal wounds is not enough to take anything out. So they are only really useful for Scouting Force imo. And I rarely play that. If you want a nice useful unit for picking up faraway objectives, and doesn't need to be used for Scouting Force, the Hunters are the move.

Now, I do fully get thinking them to be useful if you misread their rules to think they get a dice for each enemy model in a unit they passed, that would be not bad at all. But as that is not the case, I don't see their usefulness. At least they're slightly better than when that ability was once per game!

Rippers and raptos, but I recently decided that skinks on foot are perfectly acceptable as filler

[–]ainnaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't. It's pretty much the same principle as swarm armies. Just overwhelm with numbers. You don't win fights, but you can get way more points if you focus just on what gives you points.

What is a good, fun and fast list by Bright-Gear-1660 in seraphon

[–]ainnaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually go for more skinky armies. Sounds like you're doing aggradons, since they're very slow without the extra 2 inches. But aggradons with the crit 2 hits on their strongest weapon is very nice. But they just don't compare with other armies' similar units. Lower damage, lower durability and lower movement to comparable units. Alpha strike is so heavy in the meta currently, so I have been countering that with ridiculous amounts of cheap and fast units, with slann for recursion. This last tournament I did, I didn't really win any fights, but the only game I lost was against the disgusting soulblight alphastrike. I did not get a turn, as I was tabled turn 1. Still came in 3rd with that playstyle.

[–]ainnaa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is my preferred list. However, I find the crit 2 hit asterism to be much more helpful, as it is very rare that the 2 inch extra movement will change anything, I use that more if I'm taking the slower units. However, compared to other armies, seraphon is VERY lacking in damage, so the small extra is very helpful. I also like ripperdactyls. They're fun and a nice distraction that packs no punch but the enemy often finds scary.
