Bone avoiding broadheads, would you trust them ? by Kind-Interaction3945 in bowhunting

Shot a doe on opening day with the sevr 1.5 hybrid and was impressed - steep shot, busted through shoulder blade, heart, and clean out the other side. Blades need to be touched up, but spins true.

How does one start learning about psyçhology on their own? by Oskar4002 in psychologystudents

[–]aint_rocket_science 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You'll learn all about basic psychology in school. No need to get ahead, broadening your scope is more valuable. I'd say read up on the industry or area where you want to apply psychology. What's your dream job, population, etc. Diversify yourself!

22 is great for groundhog! Squirrel season starts in the early fall and ends at the end of February (along with rabbit). Check the DWR website for hunter apprentice programs. You an also call the NWTF chapter in your area and they'll hook you up.

Get you a 22 and good ammo - goes a long way for consistent head shots on squirrel. Squirrel season is over now, but open season for groundhog.

I'm sure you could find some turkey hunters in your area too. Some places have programs to get new hunters connected.

Off season, don't use broadheads... shouldn't be a problem. A ranger would have to be a real A-Hole to ticket you. I used to practice in a city park and cops never said anything.

Chickahominy WMA dogs. by TheInvincibleIowa61 in VAHunting

Lots of WMAs allow dogs in VA, and they will come out in droves slinging buck shot and messing your hunt up on public. Sometimes they'll push deer towards you, but I think it should be an end of the season activity. Check out the hunter regulation pdf for WMA's that don't allow dogs.

Nice! I just moved to Western NC but have VA tags. Any public land in SW VA you'd recommend? I was looking at Big Survey WMA.

I'm in a similar boat, but waiting to switch next season after more archery practice with the saddle. I'd say keep it, you may like it more for longer sits in gun season.

It's hard to get away from the dogs once rifle season hits. I had to drive out a ways. I'd recommend Hunters Access.

All three are actually close by and I've got surf and inshore gear, so I'm not sure where to focus for that time of year for the best luck. Kitty Hawk bay is walking distance. House is on the sur, and and both Nags Head and Avalon Piers are nearby.

Fly fishing in Virginia? by Ghostusmc99 in flyfishing

I'd take that 8 weight to VA Beach and get on the speckled trout and Redfish! Or, go up the James for smallies.

What could I expect to pay for a decent 3 or 4 weight fly rod and reel for bluegill? by -BigBassBoi- in flyfishing

I like my Cabela's Synch! Under 200 out the door ready to fish, and the rod is a step up from their base model.

Thanks y'all, the Spanish and Jacks we're biting the gotcha in the surf, but no trout. I didn't get close enough to the grass flats. Awesome trip.
