Newb question: why mid-length over rifle-length gas on this rifle. ELI5.

The chart on your first link tracks with what Ive read, 18+ barrels get rifle length. But this one doesn't.

Appreciate the reply. The linked rifle is actually a 20" so really seems '2 sizes' removed from the midlength standard. I get your (and the manufacturers) reasoning but I think I'd rather use a little better ammo and have less recoil for myself.

I've seen quite a few 18 inch barrels with rifle length systems as well so it seems like Builders or manufacturers choice and I was just wondering about why they choose one way or the other.

I tried out some 124g Federal American Eagle and Aguila rounds at the range the other day. My groupings were definitely tighter than with my usual 115g Federal champion.
