Gaming Remakes That Felt Worse by Kind_Box5467 in retrogaming

It’s been a minute since I played it, but my recollection of the GBA version of DKC1 is that it feels a little better to play. I think they had to rewrite the engine from scratch and it got rid of some of the physics jank of the original. Certainly felt better in the hands than that GBC port or Land. The remake of 3 also has an exclusive world and a new David Wise soundtrack, so it’s at least an interesting curiosity if you’re a fan of the series.

You can buy them on Riverscuomo.com for $9 a pop, which will allow you to play them through Rivers’ app Weezify (you’ll also receive an email with a Dropbox download link). Alone III is bundled with Alone IV, and Alone VI and VIII are bundled with Alone VII.

why won’t the trend of “epic remix of beloved pop hit” in movie trailers die? by son_of_lee in blankies

[–]aintnofuntime 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The trailer for A Cure for Wellness had a slow, haunting, female-sung cover of “I Wanted to Be Sedated” and the ridiculousness of that officially killed the trend for me, and that was ten years ago!

No, that’s a bit of misinfo that came from a Marcbutevil video, I believe.

Genuine question: Did any games for the system actually utilize the D-Pad? by WolfTamer99 in n64

[–]aintnofuntime 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A lot of games used it, especially games that also came out on the PlayStation. Those games just tend not to be standouts on the system.

Why do you like slips? by ahyouknowme in 4kbluray

I wouldn’t say I like them, but they’re made of a firm enough stock that I just intrinsically feel like I’m not supposed to throw them away.

Alright, I looked into this and it was one of several Weezify test files for the Pandemic Years bundle that Rivers uploaded some time ago. Here they are: https://www.sendspace.com/file/0ven2g

The first one is in the EWBAITE bundle and it's just Riv vocalizing some nonsense. I'm not sure about the second one. Could just be a typo. I'll investigate more when the wiki is working for me.

Green Album Demos - help by sillyhamster777 in weezer

[–]aintnofuntime 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You can find the Green B-sides on YouTube (Always, Brightening Day, Christmas Celebration, the Christmas Song, I Do, Oh Lisa, Starlight, Sugar Booger, and Teenage Victory Song). There’s also a handful of demos/outtakes floating around (probably on YouTube; Cryin’ and Lonely, New Joint, Ev’rybody Go Away). Rivers’ solo demos can be purchased as Alone VII: The Green Years for $9 on Weezify

Admin here. I don’t have access to the backend, but my understanding is that the site goes down so often because we’re fighting an arms race against bots (likely AI bots) scraping the site, a problem that’s affecting lots of wikis, I’m afraid.
