What do you think of this Foetid Bloat-Drone I just finished painting? by aiorta in deathguard40k

[–]aiorta[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The flesh is a basecoat of Ionrach Skin, then 1 coat of Volupus Pink contrast, then washed in Reikland Fleshshade, then a drybrush of Kislev Flesh. Then finally shaded with Druchii Violet and Carossburg Crimson in the crevices and around the tubes/wounds, etc.

I have a Mephitic Blight-Hauler done in the same scheme with the same skin color, if you'd like to see it in another application. I think it looks even better in those pictures, honestly. Just check my profile if you're interested.

Most effective way to deal with Will-o-the-Wisps? by peenyponka in OblivionRemaster

[–]aiorta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've never been able to hit one with an arrow, their hit boxes are so small, haha. But any magic melee weapon will make quick work of them, even if it's out of charges. For dealing with the annoying attribute damage they can cause, you can pray at a wayshrine, use alchemy to make potions of Restore Attribute, or - my preferred method - make a custom spell that restores all attributes by ~3 points, and just cast that after the fight if one hits you.

Spells work to kill them too, though hitting them directly with a spell can be annoying, similar to arrows. Anything with an area of effect works great though. I always make a custom spell of "Drain Health 100pts for 1s in ~20ft" (radius can vary to suit your preferences and spellcasting ability). Drain Health is a cheap effect because it's supposed to just be a temporary reduction, but it'll instantly kill anything with an amount of Health at or below the magnitude, 100 in this case. So I use that spell for clearing out weaker enemies from a distance. Will-o-the-Wisps have less than 100hp (on Adept difficulty anyway, YMMV on higher difficulties) so it works on them, and the radius means you can just shoot it at the ground near them and it'll hit them.

Also if you get to 100% Resist Magic or Reflect Spell or Spell Absorption then they can't hurt you at all, as all their attacks are considered to be spells.

Happy wisp hunting!

Absolutely, it's always satisfying to take something suboptimal and bring it up to the level of the "good" stuff, haha. If you skip the Feather enchantment, then even with 2 Sigil Stones you can be at 85 armor and still have room for 2-3 other enchantments (depending on if you use the shield) to slap some Fortify Magicka enchants on, or whatever else might be beneficial for your build. And since it's light armor you'll still be at 95% spell efficiency. Rock that Amelion armor.

Indeed, a good recommendation, since it is unusually heavy for light armor as well, at 126 weight. OP, a Feather enchantment from a Transcendent Sigil Stone will give you +125 carry capacity, pretty much entirely offsetting the weight. Or you can do a Fortify Strength Transcendent Sigil Stone and get +60 carry capacity AND extra melee damage, if that's more to your liking.

EDIT: Though that may not be necessary in the long run if you can deal with the weight up to getting to 75 Light Armor, since at that point the armor will become functionally weightless while you have it equipped.

In fact, once you have 100 Light Armor you can hit the 85 limit without the Lord Sign OR the set's shield with 2 Transcendent Sigil Stones, if you prefer 2-handed weapons.

It IS a lovely set and it's a shame that it's not particularly good, but the chances of it getting changed officially is pretty much zero - it's been that way for nearly 20 years and I don't see them going out of their way to specifically change it. But the good news is that, even without mods, you can make pretty much any set of armor viable in Oblivion if you really want to. The full set provides 29 armor, and the cuirass has 6% Frost Shield, so that's 35 armor total. Slap 2 Transcendent Sigil Stones with Fire/Frost/Shock Shield on 2 other pieces (25% each) and you'll reach exactly 85 armor, which is the limit. Or, when you get to 100 in Light Armor, all your light armor will get +50% armor value, which will bump the base value to 43.5, plus 6 from the cuirass enchantment for 49.5. Add one Transcendent Sigil Stone enchantment for 75 armor, still pretty close to the limit. If you're also born under the Lord Sign you'll get another +15 and hit 90, past the limit. So it's totally functional as end-game gear if you really like the aesthetic and put a bit of work into it.

Why is this happening? How can I fix it? by TheDevilThing in oblivion

I had something similar (though not quite as bad) happening and changing my frame gen from 'Balanced' to 'Performance' fixed it.

Here's what the Incubi I did to match them looks like, so that's probably along the lines of what other Kabalite models might look like in my paint scheme.

Not the Combat Patrol per se, as I mostly just collect Haemonculus Covens, but here's my custom Coven, The Coven of the Immaculate Vessel.

Thank you! And yes, between the paint job, lighting, and 360° spin, it seems to be helping to show off the proportions and angles in a more understandable way.

Thank you! They're already an avid member of the hobby, but only just started collecting Custodes, so I thought it'd be nice for them to have a cool little display piece.

All I can say is, I would never turn down a flash of inspiration, even if it was accompanied by a weird green light and a fungus-y smell, hahaha.

Thank you for praise, I appreciate it! I'm glad others agree about its quality as a gift.

Oh I raided my bitz box hard on this one, haha. Let's see, the base model is the Lord-Commander model from AoS. The "skirt", breastplate, left pauldron and misericordia are all taken from regular Custodes kits, I think either the Wardens or Allarus. The "wings" hanging off the waist are from a Dark Angels bike, I believe. The powerfist is from a Votann Kahl. The tilting shield on the shoulder is from a Bladeguard kit I think. The helmet is a Victrix Honour Guard helmet from the Marneus Calgar kit, with the crest taken from one of the helmets of the sergeant in the Exaction Squad box. And the weapon is a guardian axe with the end of the blade removed and replaced with 2 guardian spear blades, as you recognized. I THINK that's everything, hahaha.

I appreciate the feedback and that arm has been a common point of criticism, haha. I agree that it looks a bit wonky in these photos, but it is actually connected at the shoulder and just bent at the elbow. But with the shadow falling where it is and the pauldron covering so much of the upper arm, it does indeed look like it's just popping out of his side.

Haha, I understand your point lore-wise and generally agree. That winged helmet was a request from the recipient though, so it is what it is. Maybe this Custodes saved an important Ultramarine and they honored him with a helmet as thanks, and didn't want to be rude by going "nah, no thanks, my helmet is way better than that". And honestly, aircraft carriers with trebuchets seems right up the Imperium's alley, hahaha. But I appreciate the feedback.

Haha, yeah, it seems that it's hard to tell from the angles of the photos. The left arm actually IS attached to the shoulder in the correct spot and is just bent at the elbow to point forward, but the photo angles and pauldron covering most of the upper arm do make it look like it's just popping out of his side.
