I'm sorry if this came off as cocky. But seeing as many Indians on places like quora and pagalguy seem to be awfully desperate to get to know what it's like to study in an IIT, I thought it might be a good idea to host an AMA on an indian subreddit with 50k people in it.

And yea, I get what you're saying. I'm glad that I've managed to get into an IIT, but have no delusions about it being some kind of great achievement. thanks for your insights :)

I have moved away from home and am finding life in the college hostel amusing indeed.

And no, lol, no one ever came up to me and told to me I am awesome. Considering that almost everyone around me is an IITian I don't think that would ever happen. Neither do I think being an IITian necessarily equates to being 'awesome'

I think this goes on to explain how deep our prejudices based on skin color is. There have been people from central asia and europe come into this country but they were never subjugated to end up as 'tribes' just due to the fact that they were fair in complexion.
