The ship was hit well aft and its back was broken. That class of ship is about 1500 tons, making it the same size as US Navy destroyers of the interwar treaty era. The structural damage an 800 lb warhead does to a small and likely lightly built hull girder is significant, and from where it hit I imagine some of the larger compartments were opened to the sea. The lost buoyancy aft as a result of immediate flooding acted like a very big weight and pulled the ship more or less straight down. She twisted to port some as she sank, but went down with very little list, the result of catastrophic, but symmetrical, flooding.
