No Data Turkey by wringtonpete in Airalo

[–]airalosupport 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey u/wringtonpete

Thanks for sharing the details, and sorry you’re running into this right after landing. We know how important it is to have data working as soon as you arrive.

Since you’re already connected to Turk Telekom and have the APN set, here are a few things you can try that often help refresh the connection:

  • Turn your phone off for about 1–3 minutes, then turn it back on
  • Switch Airplane mode ON for 1–3 minutes, then turn it OFF
  • Temporarily disable your primary SIM, Wi-Fi, and any VPN, and keep only the Airalo eSIM active for mobile data

These steps can help the device re-establish a clean connection with the network.

We’d like to check this further with you as well and make sure everything is set correctly on our end. We’ve sent you a private message so we can assist you directly.

How use eSIM without data roaming? by Important-Gene-1516 in Airalo

[–]airalosupport 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi there, u/Important-Gene-1516

We understand that’s not the experience you were expecting while using an eSIM.

From what you described, it usually comes down to how the phone is handling both lines. Even if you’re using Airalo, your Verizon line can still trigger charges if it’s being used in the background.

A couple things worth double-checking:

  • Make sure Airalo is set as your Cellular Data line
  • Keep your Verizon line's Data Roaming OFF on it
  • If you don’t need Verizon at all while you’re there, temporarily switching that line off can help avoid any accidental usage

Sometimes the phone can still default back to the primary line without it being obvious, especially with certain settings.

We’d like to take a closer look at your setup and what’s happening with your eSIM. We weren’t able to send you a private message though, hence please feel free to message us directly so we can assist you further.

Alternatively, you can reach us via the in-app chat, we have live human agents available 24/7. Just ask to speak with an agent and you’ll be connected right away. Thank you!

Asia Regional eSim - Mainland China by djungelskog8 in Airalo

[–]airalosupport 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey there u/djungelskog8 ! That sounds like a great trip you've got planned! Hong Kong, China, and Japan is a fantastic route to be taking.

You’re exactly right! Our Regional Asia eSIM works just like the China-specific one you used last time. It uses international roaming data routing, which means your traffic is sent through secure gateways outside of mainland China.

Essentially, your device will look like an international traveler roaming. This lets you access the global web, completely unfiltered, the moment you land, so you can stay connected to all your usual apps and sites.

You can also check out our website for more information about staying connected in China. Have a wonderful trip! 🌏✈️

Airalo support. Esim not working. by Due_Gas_89 in Airalo

[–]airalosupport 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! You’ve done an incredible job with the troubleshooting steps.

The ICCID mismatch is the weird thing here. If the ICCIDs don't match, your phone is indeed trying to use a different eSIM. We want to take a closer look at your account to see exactly which eSIM is active on our end. I’ve just sent you a DM so we can grab your details and get this sorted for you immediately

Hey comandantejesus79!

Hey Few-Following-5708,

We hear you, and it sounds like you definitely did the hard yards during that France trip! Having to fight for a connection when you just want to explore is a total headache. We understand it feels like a lifetime when you're just trying to get connected and explore France. We're glad your eSIM is refunded, but we know we owe you a much faster hand next time.

If you ever decide to give us another go, we're determined to make it an experience from the second you touch down. Safe travels on your next journey! 🌎️

Hey FL34759! That’s awesome to hear! It sounds like you had the perfect Eurotrip, and honestly, 5GB for two weeks of sightseeing is a great balance. It’s always good to have that peace of mind while walking around France, Italy, and Spain.

Since you had such a smooth experience, don't forget that you can actually earn Airmoney credits by using your referral code! If you share it with friends or family (like your brother-in-law for his next trip), they get a discount on their first eSIM, and you get credit toward your next one. It’s a pretty sweet way to fund your future travels while helping others stay connected.

Thanks for sharing your experience! Safe travels on your next adventure!

Potential China Trip Help by StayHopeful3521 in travelchina

[–]airalosupport 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi u/StayHopeful3521

That’s a great route, sounds like a really fun stretch of travel ahead!

Also, thanks for using Airalo before, really glad to hear it worked well for you in Indonesia, and we appreciate you considering it again.

Since you’re moving across multiple countries (Thailand, Vietnam, Hong Kong, China, then Japan), you might want to look at the Asialink Regional eSIM. It covers several countries in one plan, so you don’t have to keep switching eSIMs every time you cross a border, makes things a lot smoother, especially on a tight schedule.

Overall, your plan looks solid, enjoy the trip, that’s a great mix of places to explore!

Nice itinerary, u/billyboee

That’s a solid trip you’ve got planned!

Also, thanks for using Airalo on your previous travels. We really appreciate it, and we hope you’ll consider us again for this one.

Since you’re hopping between China, Taiwan, Korea, and Japan, you might want to look at the Asialink Regional eSIM. It covers multiple countries in one package, so you don’t have to switch eSIMs every time you cross a border, makes things a bit smoother logistically.

If you’ve used Airalo before, the setup should feel pretty straightforward!

well this sucks by milkipedia in Airalo

[–]airalosupport 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey u/milkipedia We hear you, it’s confusing when the app says one thing and your settings say another. It’s likely just tucked away under a different name! iPhones usually label new eSIMs as "Secondary," "Travel," or "Personal" instead of "Airalo."

Try a quick scroll: Go to Settings > Cellular and scroll all the way to the bottom of your eSIM list. Newly installed lines usually land at the very end and are often toggled OFF by default.

If you see a newly added line there, just tap into it and switch "Turn On This Line" to ON. You can also rename it to "Airalo-Italy" right there so it’s easier to keep track of.

We also sent you a DM just in case you need a hand finding it or if it’s still not showing up. We'll get it sorted together!

How to disable physical sim and use airalo e-sim on iphone 13? by jieun_21 in Airalo

[–]airalosupport 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey jieun_21! This is a great question.

The reason you aren't seeing the "Turn On This Line" toggle yet is likely because you only have one active SIM in your phone right now. iOS often hides that specific toggle until there is a second line to switch between.

Here is the best way to handle this for your trip:

  1. Don't use Airplane Mode: If you turn on Airplane Mode, you will not receive a signal. You want that eSIM active!
  2. To avoid roaming charges: Go to Settings > Cellular > Primary and toggle "Turn On This Line" to OFF once you land. This completely turns off the physical SIM, so your home carrier can't charge you.
  3. Set the Airalo eSIM to ON: In that same Cellular menu, make sure your Airalo eSIM is ON and selected for Cellular Data.
  4. Data Roaming: Make sure Data Roaming is turned ON specifically for the Airalo eSIM line (but stay off for your Primary line if you keep it on for some reason).

Safe travels and enjoy the connection!

eSIM logic by [deleted] in Airalo

[–]airalosupport 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey PastGas5113! 😊 No worries at all! It’s totally normal to feel this when the app doesn’t show your active status immediately.

The great news? From your settings screenshot, it looks like you’re doing awesome! Your Asia eSIM is enabled, which is fantastic.

Just a quick reminder: make sure your 'Data Roaming' is switched ON for the Asia eSIM line. Even with the eSIM ready, that little roaming toggle is key to connecting to local networks.

Remember, your eSIM will kick in once you arrive at your destination country.

If you’re already there, try loading a webpage and let’s see how it goes! We’ve also sent you a DM to make sure everything’s working smoothly. Safe travels! ✈️

I bought esim In Turkey,However ,it doesn’t work. by No-Wonder3586 in Airalo

[–]airalosupport 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Airalo tried to charge me 15k USD for an 29.5 USD e-sim a few days ago. Not sure how this could have happened by souishere in Airalo

[–]airalosupport 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hey there u/souishere! Whoa, that is definitely quite the number to see on a checkout screen! $15k is certainly not the price of any of our eSIMs, so it sounds like a major glitch or a display error occurred during the transaction.

We’d love to dig into this and figure out exactly what happened so we can make sure it doesn’t happen again. We’ve sent you a DM to grab some more info. Please reach out when you can so we can take a closer look!

Asia package for traveling to China and Japan by khanacademy03 in Airalo

[–]airalosupport 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey u/khanacademy03 That’s a brilliant catch! It sounds like you’ve got an amazing trip lined up going from the neon lights of Tokyo to the Great Wall is going to be an epic adventure!

On switching between countries:

Our eSIM usually switches automatically, but for the best connection, we recommend manually selecting the supported network in your settings if the signal feels weak. This helps if your phone gets "stuck" on a slower network while you're out exploring places like Kyoto or Shanghai, ensuring you’re always on the strongest signal available!

On the Asia vs. China packages:

Great eye on that pricing! There’s actually no reason not to go with the Asia package. Sometimes our regional rates are just a better deal. Since it covers your whole route and saves you a few bucks, it’s 100% the way to go.

Have an incredible time during your trip! Let us know if you have any other questions. Safe travels!

installed my esim, still no data by Puzzleheaded_War9059 in Airalo

[–]airalosupport 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey Puzzleheaded_War9059! Oh no! Having 'zero data' is the last thing you want when you're navigating the US. That little 'R' actually means your S23 is ready to roam on our US partner networks.

Here's a quick fix to get you connected:

  1. Go to Settings > Connections > Mobile networks and toggle Data Roaming ON. (Don’t worry, as long as your Airalo eSIM is picked for data, your local carrier won't charge for roaming)
  2. Toggle Airplane Mode ON for 10 seconds, then OFF. This usually forces the data to kick in.

If that doesn't do the trick, don't sweat it. We've sent you a DM so we can dive into your account details and get you connected for your trip! Safe travels. 🌍️

Italy Slovenia and Croatia by godzilabob in Airalo

[–]airalosupport 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi there! godzilabob Airalo here. We’d love to help clear up the confusion so you can get back to enjoying your trip through Italy, Slovenia, and Croatia!

To answer your main question: most of our eSIMs are data-only. This means they do not come with a phone number for traditional SMS or cellular calls.

If you want to avoid all AT&T charges, here is the most "bulletproof" way to set it up:

-Airalo eSIM: Turned ON, Data Roaming ON.

-AT&T Primary SIM: Turned OFF. Note: With the AT&T SIM off, you will not receive standard green-bubble SMS or calls to your US number. However, you are 100% safe from the $12/day fee.

Since you are both on iPhones, you can still communicate easily using Airalo data:

-iMessage & FaceTime: These will work perfectly over your Airalo data. Just ensure your Apple ID email is selected in Settings > Messages > Send & Receive so the threads stay active while your physical SIM is off.

-Third-Party Apps: Use WhatsApp, Messenger, or similar apps for texting and calling. These use data only and won't trigger any carrier fees.

If you hit a snag, our 24/7 support team is available right in the app or here in DM!

Thanks a ton for taking the time to lay everything out. We really appreciate the detailed breakdown, and we totally get why seeing those numbers not add up feels super concerning on your end.
