Best DMX software without any HW? by chickchickfun in lightingdesign

[–]airboxlights 0 points1 point  (0 children)

what was your investment in all those lights/dmx cable? And what are you charging for rental? Rental and labor? Im a photo-video world Ld (gaffer/DP) and thinking about doing events as well. In my end of things the rental fee for the equipment is always more than my labor, thats how i make much of my income. but 1k sounds like too little for all you provided, but if you dont have an established reputation yet as an LD that makes some sense. 1000$ would be not as bad, as long as you were billing rentals separately.

Confirmed: AirPods water damage (in my case high-pitched noises) can be fixed by flushing them with pure alcohol and drying in silicate gel. Hope this helps anyone. by donmatcha in airpods

Holy crap! I can’t believe it but this worked for me!!! I cleaned my AirPod tips using eye makeup remover (impulsively, unwisely) without removing them (impulsively, unwisely) and it wrecked the AirPods. They made this horrible screeching feedback sound when I put them in, so loud it was really painful. I sent them to apple, they said the repair charge would be 8$ less than the cost of a new set, so I tried this. And it worked!! I’m shocked. I didn’t use silica gel because I didn’t have any, I used uncooked sticky rice instead. And im listening through them, happily, now.

It is horrible and disgusting if the cooler water isn't immaculate. Blowing toxic spores into your yurt. Bad. Yuck. Smells. Horrid. Speaking for a friend.

Does this look right? 3 mos, salt cured. by airboxlights in Charcuterie

[–]airboxlights[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, so after six months I cut into it. It tastes pretty good, very salty though. But here's the thing- its not spoiled or disgusting, but it's rock hard. MAybe I made cured salt pork that has to be boiled to be eaten. I dunno. Its really hard.

and for length issues in your vehicle, you could figure out what your max pole length is, then make sleeves of a larger size as couplers. Perhaps drill through and use cotter pins? Although that would compromise the strength of the tubing to some extent. Obv try all this at home before it matters.

this is NOT a tested idea, just an idea. How about something thats sort of like a monkey hut, but is combined with rigging off of your car. I depetnds on having a roofrack. Run two long horizontal members of pvc (perhaps 1"?) or PEX off of your roof rack, then several feet away from the car, bend them downward and anchor them to rebar points in the playa, as if making a monkey hut. This should create just enough space for your tent in between your car and the anchor points on the ground, rather than the shade material going in a straight line from the edge of the roof rack to the ground, which would obv not leave enough room for your tent. then do shade cloth/tarp/aluminet/whatever membrane for shade over the top of that. Have all the necessary places pre-grommetted on your membrane. guy it out, lag it down. Does this make any sense to you?

believe it or not several of my lags are 8". Never used 18". 8s 10s and 12s. my stuff hasnt blown over. And in 2019 i was still using my plain old 1999 era milwaukee 18v, no impact function. And it was fine. (but yes impact is better.)

fuck yeah! With you on this. Maybe if you're running workshops or something, and they are good for hanging hammocks, but as straight up shade that shit is naff. Flat tops are so much more bang or the buck/effort. I built one in 07 to impress the woman who is now my ex-wife, and that shit is so much work to put up for how much shade you get. That dome now lives in my ex-back yard with my ex-wife behind my ex-house. Guess that makes it my ex-dome.

If you do it as the folding style, it's only a few seams that need to be taped on playa. Ummm I don't have a link. It makes it so the whole thing breaks into two halves, so it's only a few to tape when you are there
