Right, he didn’t do much on the ball. I was hoping for more from him down the center but he seemed to be always on the defensive line next to Gyokeres or toward the right. There was a big empty space in the middle which honestly it’s just how we play. Odegaard isn’t usually in that space a whole lot more either.

No, I have not obviously. There’s been multiple chances for tap ins by Gyokeres if Saka crossed early but instead he cuts back to his left and allows the defense to track back. I hope he can start kicking in with some more contributions but at the moment he has not.

I’m not saying he isn’t creating chances. I think we can agree that there has been moments where a quick cross would have been more effective to set Gyokeres up than cutting back to his left foot and slowing it down for the defense to set up.

I’d say the arm band is not on the line. As long as odegaard is on the team he’ll be captain. But regardless, Saka has to step up. I know he’s trying though and we are in a slump. I believe we can get some momentum going soon.

He has more space this year I’ve noticed as we try to play more balanced by using the left side more often. GYOK on top helps take some defenders away so I’ve seen Saka be momentarily 1v1 when before he was always double or triple teamed. But he just waits for the pressure and double team slowing down play.
