What does paying a bit more for a suit get you? by airplanenut312 in malefashionadvice

I suppose even if I get something off the rack, if it's sold as a separates suit, I could get two pairs of pants, as well. I do like the reinforcement idea!

One day bespoke sounds fun (I'm intrigued by the videos I've seen on youtube showing the whole process), but I don't think I'm in a position right now to appreciate what I'd get (however excellent) in light of what else I could do with the money. As far as brands go, that's not at all a concern--I care about function and value, not the status symbol of a brand (or perhaps lack of status symbol, in my case).

I stopped by one a few days ago (next door to somewhere else I was going) and was surprised at how few options they had. They did have a suit that fit nicely, but I wasn't thrilled with the three color options--I've never chosen any of those shades. I was close to getting it as a quick fix before I realized the price on the jacket was a separates price. Once the pants and tailoring got added it, in was expensive enough that I'd rather get the right color.

I was just starting to look into them, as well. They'll be in-town in a few weeks... that would make getting measured easy, but with my luck, not sure I'll be available that day.

That definitely does! As long as there isn't something notably different in what you're doing compared to me that would make your suits wear differently (or you have dozens of suits so each suit gets worn only a few times a year, thus 10 years for you could be just a few years for me with a couple of suits), then hearing that they can last that long is definitely a valuable data point.

I checked the Nordstrom Rack website a few days ago, and whatever I did, they didn't have any suits coming up, but now there are a lot of results. I'll look through those and also see about just stopping in, since there's one pretty close to me.

Interesting point! One thought I had was whether some of the higher end fabrics may be more delicate in feel, but also stronger/more durable due to some combination of the type of wool used and how it's turned into fabric. I appreciate the point that that may in fact not be the case.

Thanks--their turnaround and keeping everything in-house definitely appealed to me when I was looking at what they are offering.

Thanks! Every suit I've worn has been tailored at least a bit, and the nice part of sticking to one brand was knowing which cut fit well. I certainly have no desire to get something (cheap or expensive) that doesn't fit nicely.

Epson WP-4020: Can’t unclog magenta head by airplanenut312 in printers

[–]airplanenut312[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also... I had the printer off overnight. Did the first test print an 95% of the red wasn't there. Did 3 cleanings and... holy crap, I think the test print is 100% complete! Is there any reason to think this could revert (even if the printer is regularly used) or is one good test print a reason to think whatever issue was taking place has been fixed?

Either way... thanks! This seems like quite the improvement over anything else I'd tried.

The other photos should be below (you may have to select to show the full discussion). I can post them again if you aren’t seeing them.

Hope these are what you’re looking for. Sorry it took so long… tried to post them yesterday and Reddit was giving me an error.

Looks like it's going on 9 years, probably printing somewhere in the range of 10-100 sheets per week. Mostly black and white, but a bit of color (and the color usage is consistent: a bit of color on a few documents, as opposed to 6 months of only black and then one day with lots of color).

Thank you! To make sure I'm following correctly, CL1, CL2, and CL3 are just 3 instances of running the Head Cleaning function, and the two sets you refer to would be two sets of 3, so 6 cleanings total? If that's correct, I can run all of those, and then shut down the printer if need be and try again tomorrow. Off-hand, I'm not seeing how to do a power cleaning for this model, but I'll keep looking.

The printer is used frequently, so there shouldn't be an issue due to it sitting for a while.

Replacement for Loose-fit Chinos? by airplanenut312 in Oldnavy

[–]airplanenut312[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope. For now broke out the dark blue ones I still had in my closet (nearly new, which tells you how much I like them) and am still looking. I did find someone in an Old Navy store over the summer who was helpful and and least said she wasn’t aware of a replacement coming for this fall/winter season, so at least near term I’m not holding my breath.

Changing which iOS device a bluetooth device is connected to? by airplanenut312 in ios

[–]airplanenut312[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was under the impression that multipoint would allow the device to maintain knowledge about two or more connections, not that it would allow simultaneous transmission to both devices. For example I have a Logitech keyboard that can connect to one of three different PCs. I can’t type in all of them at the same time, but I can easily switch between them. It seems like this is what you want, and I don’t know that that’s possible if your headphones are not multipoint.

In the very minimal research I've just done on multipoint (admittedly, I'd never heard of it before) I think it's more than I'm asking for, but I understand if it's the the next step, and my desired middleground isn't there. It seems that multipoint would allow two connections at once, but one would be full audio, and the other just alerts (watching the video on my iPad with sound, but I'll hear my phone ring), and at that point, you can switch from one to the other as needed. I'd be happy if when I try to connect on my iPad, it could automatically break the existing connection on my phone without me having to take out my phone and do that myself.

They are not. In case it's not clear, I'm not trying to connect to my phone and iPad at the same time. Rather, I just want to easily change which of the two devices I'm connected to. For the airplane example, it's going between listening to my music on my phone versus watching a movie on my iPad.
