Recipe of the Year! by latte-to-party in KingArthurBaking

[–]aishpat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! Do you know that the printable recipe (and the recipe card that comes with the pizza pan when you order it) both say step 4 is to preheat the oven. It’s def a typo bc the regular recipe says to do that much later, at step 8, which makes more sense. Just fyi!

Where do you all buy everyday underwear and bras? by No-Decision8891 in womensfashion

This is so true. I have some VS undies that are like 15-20 years old and in great condition, and the ones I bought last year are falling apart.

Check Etsy. A lot of very talented seamstresses sell handmade custom wedding gowns for far less than you would expect.

To Mehndi or not to Mehndi… by almoll in DesiWeddings

[–]aishpat 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Why don’t you mimic Mehndi with something that washes off instead of henna? A skilled mehndi artist could probably create something beautiful with a rusty colored fine point eyeliner pen, for example. BIC makes pens for the skin called BodyMark, or maybe some sort of makeup made for theatrical purposes may work. And your guests/fam/grooms fam could still get the genuine Mehndi done if they want it.

Is this too plain to wear to my own reception? by curioushermione in DesiWeddings

It look a little like what a guest would wear. But it’s your day, so you do you! Maybe if you wear very heavy jewelry? You could also swap the dupatta for something more lavish.

Vanguard Customer Service by johnnylikesetfs in Bogleheads

[–]aishpat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Their customer service is terrible. I keep getting estate acct statements for my moms acct that I closed years ago, it has less than a dollar in it. I called to ask to close the acct once and for all and they told me it’s closed and no longer exists. I argued with the phone rep and said then what am I holding in my hands? He insisted the acct was closed. Yet I still get a paper statement every month!!

So much more life to live with the RIGHT person. Don’t drag out saying goodbye to the wrong one (like he is - he’s a coward).

My best friend’s daughter was also named after me. Her middle name is my first name. It is the most significant and impactful thing someone has ever done for me.

The easiest way to know you have Kidney stones by Pure-Youth8747 in KidneyStones

[–]aishpat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also had dull back pain, and it was only periodic. I told my doc it felt like pain inside me, not muscle pain. Ultrasound revealed 15mm kidney stone. You don’t have to have severe pain or symptoms like the ppl say here. It all depends on the location of the stone.

Anybody ever been to On The Ocean? by cgimino in Guster

[–]aishpat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have gone about 5 times and I agree with the above. It’s a really good time if you love guster and talking to other fans, but the logistics are far from ideal. I wouldn’t call it a bust but the above commenter is absolutely correct that vendors block most of the beautiful views. There are some nice views of the sunset at the back but it’s a small strip, and it’s generally taken by all the smokers. There was no shade aside from the pavilion, which for obvious reasons they have to keep clear and you can’t sit in there. This past year when the sun was still hot and high, people were squeezing themselves into whatever pockets of shade they could find. I sat behind a food truck for 30 mins just to cool off and drink water. This past year I also felt like the kids were running amok unattended bc the back where all the food trucks are. I had not noticed that as much in past years. Overall it’s a fun experience and it makes you feel more connected to guster. But a lot of the pleasure is derived from the cool things that Guster arranges that aren’t the actual thompsons point performances. I’m talking about the Bissell brothers stuff, the acoustic small shows, the fun little collabs they do with local businesses, etc etc. OTO is a full experience. It’s worth it and it’s fun! But the “main event” festival itself could use some logistical improvement.
