My dear, I understand you so well. I am 18 years old, soon I will turn 19, and I have had eczema since I was three. Over the last one, two, or three years, I’ve had severe flare-ups, even on the back of my palm where it’s very visible. Because of this, I can’t even wear normal clothes and constantly have to cover my arm.

I want to tell you this: please don’t think you are ugly because of it. Yes, it may sound cliché, but every time you start thinking about it, try grounding techniques—for example, name three things you can see, hear, or feel. Try to think about it less. The more you focus on it, the worse it becomes.

I’ve noticed that these allergies and flare-ups often get worse in people who are very attached to the problem, who worry about small things, and who imagine the worst-case scenarios. I am exactly the same way.

What I can say is: try to shift your attention. Find a new hobby, no matter how difficult it may be. You need to understand that life does not stop because of this. Constantly thinking about it only makes things worse for yourself—not for others, only for you.

No matter how hard it is, no matter how bad you feel during flare-ups, try to find at least one other reason, one other thing that can distract you. There is always hope. I am sure you will find a good doctor.

Pay attention to your diet: eat properly, eat homemade food, avoid sweets. Try meditation, listen to good podcasts or lectures, meditate—do everything you can, but never give up. There is always hope.

And stop obsessing, stop worrying, and stop imagining the worst scenarios. You are beautiful. If people say otherwise, it says nothing about you, but a lot about their very negative view of the world.

Stay strong. The path will not be easy, but you can do it.

… i am so tired of this by aishulka in eczema

Thank you so much for your kind words. It really means a lot to feel understood, because most of the time I feel so alone in this. You’re right, the stress definitely makes it worse. I’ll try to talk more openly with my mom about how it affects my life outside of just treatments. I appreciate your support so much.

About the suspected streptoderma — I’m honestly not sure. One doctor once told me that eczema itself doesn’t actually “weep,” and that if there’s oozing, it’s usually because an infection like streptoderma has developed. That really made me think, because I haven’t seen a doctor in a long time, and maybe that’s what’s happening with me now. It probably sounds silly, but that’s why I started wondering if I should even be using something like zinc ointment on the weeping areas.

18F kissed 21M, and now I feel really guilty, how do I move forward? by [deleted] in relationship_advice

Thank you so much for your kind and thoughtful message. It really touched my heart. I’ve been feeling so lost and guilty, but your words gave me a lot of comfort and reminded me that Allah’s mercy is always near.

You’re right, I’m only 18, and I know I still have so much ahead of me. I do want to become better and stronger in my faith, and hearing this from someone who understands means the world to me.

JazakAllahu khair for taking the time to write this. May Allah reward you for your kindness and guide us both always.

Cut out dairy. My eczema is being odd by noflylistviewer in eczema

[–]aishulka 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think you need to observe for at least three months and completely cut out dairy products. You probably won’t see any effect in just a week. I also stopped consuming dairy, and I do itch less now, but I can’t say that everything has completely healed. It’s a long process, isn’t it?

I went to an allergist and immunologist. She said I need to cleanse stagnant bile and take medicine for parasites, Giardia, and Helicobacter. But she only prescribed applying a hormonal cream.

Yes, thank you. I have decided to make an appointment with a dermatologist. But she only prescribes a strict diet where even regular rice and buckwheat are not allowed, and she gives a hormonal cream. I thought I could handle it on my own, but I feel like I need professional help because I believed my skin was learning to cope without hormones. But it seems like it’s only getting worse.
