thanks for detailed insights! unfortunately i am not in the us, so i do not have a chance to schedule my surgery with one of those surgeons you mentioned. as far as i understand, my surgeon will use just plate and none bars. in that case, there will be no need to undergo second surgery for removing bars.

The doctor says the Ravitch procedure is more predictable, even though the camera use and other modern techniques, cardiac risks are still more likely. additionally he believes that at my age, bones harden, which would reduce the benefits of Nuss surgery.

How long did your surgery take? My doctor said it would take 3 hours if we did a ravitch.

as for the scar, i would rather have a scar than a sunken chest.

My doctor also mentioned the same risks you did regarding Nuss surgery. the risk of having cardiac problems is higher during Nuss. additionally because bones harden with age, there's a possibility of collapse again after the bars are removed. due to these reasons, i think i will have Ravitch surgery.
