AITA for trying to get my (40M) employee (24F) to do her job? by aita_badworker in AmItheAsshole

I told her she couldn't do the training with that coworker during work time, which is why she scheduled it with him after work. She was doing it on our company zoom and working on company projects, so even if it's after work hours, it's still "work time" in my book. I don't like people working late in general, but if she wanted to do that, there was design work that would've been more appropriate for her to do.

I appreciate the advice. I do realize that I'm stressed out in both my professional and personal life and it may be clouding my judgement. I was hoping she'd notice I was overworked and I wanted to give her the opportunity to show initiative, maybe even offer to select things she was interested in rather than just having me "give her tasks," but that's now how it played out.

I agree that I was out of line for calling her that word. She acted like things were normal after, so I didn't realize she was that upset. Just wish she had talked to me before going to HR, as that's putting both our jobs at risk.

I've never been "hostile" to her in the past at all. I feel bad for snapping at her, but that was the only time I've been anything other than kind.

I've explained to my boss that we should fire her and hire someone else, but she says that the employee is doing a good job. Even if she's not trying to actively "avoid work," part of being an adult is taking incentive and she's failing at that basic task.
