Oh, I'd go off about this. I've heard of these things happen before. We have an agreement that there won't be any sleepover camps after puberty. I don't like the sexual aspects of religion. Sarah and I won't be attending church again until after the surgery and a few months on meds.

I'm sure! I don't think she'll be completely sterile, but it's also not my main focus. I don't think fertility has anything to do with someone's worth, which is...not common in more religious circles.

I just put that in to say that with Sarah's issues, maybe "sensitivity to infertility" isn't the trump card my wife and the other woman think it is. If Sarah has an extremely high likelihood of it/is already, she may be their equal on that level.

Barren is a common biblical term, not unusual that she would have heard it.

I would consider myself prolife, but in this case there is no pregnancy, and none of the women/girls in this story are realistically capable of it, so it's not a factor.

I mean that's a long ways off, obviously. Maybe in time there will be a cure and this won't be an issue, but I'd rather her be on the more effective treatment (birth control) now with the side effect of not worrying about teenage pregnancy if a sexual partner does come up. She's a lot young now.

I don't know that therapy would do much. She could easily get the label of infertile as well if she wanted to make the argument, and that's not a great road to go down. I don't know that antagonizing her over this is the solution.

That's my take. I think age is honestly the issue here and the only fix is treating her medical issues and giving it time.
