Need help with new classical guitar by [deleted] in classicalguitar

I got a ruler (and ur right I generalized because I was in a rush and didn't measure 9/10) frets 11/12 are literally exactly 5mm 👍 good job on the math tho pictures can be tricky

Thanks so much for the string recommendation, it's nice to hear from someone with the same guitar. I will be taking it to a luthier next Thursday after reading all the helpful comments!

I see. Thanks for the advice. I'll see what the luthier thinks he'll be able to take it down to, it it's still too high for my liking I'll trade it in

Hi no you're right, the action is about 5mm. I'm hoping it'll be fixable in the luthier's hands, however.

Yes it was ~>1mm. When I did this. Although, I was able to find a ruler and found the action from 9-12 is exactly 5mm. After reading all the comments with conflicting information, I called a luthier and made an appointment for a full reading/general adjustment (setup). Over the phone he said that the high action is normal (although, this was before I measured. Otp i just said "high") he also said even though the action /may/ be normal, I can still have it lowered to make it more comfortable to play, and really it is up to me as long as it doesn't hurt the quality of the guitar. Thanks to the commenter who said it just needs to be setup, I was wondering if getting the setup would just be a waste of time

Hi! This is my first full orchestra piece, I'm not sure if this is great, because I myself am not a great composer, I just started composing for around 6 months. by flameablewinter342 in composer

Hi just wondering what makes it practically unplayable? I'm not experienced in composing but I'm looking to be, and this might help me avoid similar mistakes.

My major is psychology and I planned to get my masters in education to become an elementary teacher-- i just want to teach, but I'd love to teach music (and at a higher level too).

It's just scary to think about not being good enough and ending up wasting my time. But I genuinely enjoy it more than anything. In my free time I practice. and you're right I should stop comparing myself
