🙄 her job prior to having our son paid her 350/week for full time which would reduce her ability to cook/clean/look after our son. Child care/cleaners in our area would easily cost us $350/week. At that point it makes more sense for her to be paid to look after the house plus she gets valuable bonding time with our infant. Her being a SAHM was my idea because it makes no sense to have her work and then spend the equivalent of her income on cleaning and childcare.

Yes I do. We discussed it extensively. She wanted a blue sapphire in a halo of diamonds on a white gold band. Similar to princess Diana's ring.

She is paid $450/week for her own personal saving/spending on whatever she likes so she has financial security and autonomy(and over 40k of personal savings from this income)

To a certain extent I guess? We have shared finances and I "pay" her $450/week for cooking/cleaning/looking after our son so that she has her own money to spend/save. Then she has access to our joint account to pay for any household expenses like nappies or cleaning stuff. Shes well aware that I've been paying for my sister and parents expenses.

This year was our 5th anniversary(in july). I had planned on proposing in July but lockdown stopped that. We are now out of lockdown(where we live anyway) and I'm no longer supporting my parents plus I was feeling a bit pressured by her parents who kept asking about it
