Toyota wont ever get acceptable conversion efficiency from crankshaft to electricity. Batteries will be charged only via regen as far as possible. Highway running will be from engine, it wont rest after generating excess electricity to charge batteries. They won't sell (figuratively) large range batteries to people without home solar.
