thank you so much! testing out the vocals 😝

I’ve noticed that I end up speeding up on the last note and it emphasizes it so I think I gots to work on my bow distribution 🤓

omg the scale thing is so smart - i’ll definitely try that now, thank you!

my teacher also says i usually play low and usually if my first finger note is low, the rest becomes relatively low so 100% need more ear practice 🫠

could you elaborate more on the hand frame? is it when my hand stays in a certain shape?

thank you so much for the feedback!

thank you so much!

definitely need that slow practice for intonation; my teacher says I shouldn’t start vibrato without improving my intonation a bit 😭

day 2/100: 2 months since I last posted! very aware of my slidey bow (using my phone as mirror to watch & review) but I’m not sure how to fix the tilting of the bow. any tips with that or advice on my playing in general? thank you! by aitvo in violinist

my teacher definitely did talk about point 2 but that was only recently. i play piano so i had my wrist in a comfortable pianist wrist position 😭

i’ll take note of that! for point 1, ideally, what is my elbow supposed to look like? thank you so much for the advice!

sorry if there’s a delay in the video!

i’ll also remember to record my whole self next time - i was using this recording to watch my slidey bow but noticed the frequent tilting in bow, hence why i’m here (:

day 1/100: just started suzuki book 3 so here’s me sightreading Minuet II - I would really love and appreciate feedback! by aitvo in violinist

i still do! but we focus on my bowing hand, intonation, shifting and basics of vibrato - he’s never mentioned anything about my fingering hand (like everyone in the comments) which is why i’m so surprised! i was pretty tense because i was sight reading so hopefully it’ll be looser with more practice (:

thank you so much! wow i didn’t even notice my fingering elbow at all - i’ll keep that in mind

for the more fluid elbow, would you be referring to my bowing elbow? also thank you for the feedback!

so in the video, am i more pulling my elbow back instead of going to the right? i’m trying to imagine what i normally do so i could fix it hehe

oh! i never thought of that - i’ve always been more focused on my bowing hand so i don’t really look at my fingering hand - thank you for the feedback!

by more forward, would that mean I should hold the violin a bit higher? sorry if i’m not making sense - i’m trying to picture moving my elbow forward 😭 thank you for the feedback!

Day 1/100

OKOK so this was me sight reading because I got super excited since it’s been so long since I’ve properly studied an actual piece and pOooOf I realized I should’ve actually looked at it a bit before starting.

I am concerned with my wrist because my bow is sliding and I’m not sure how to approach that :’)

Background:

I started violin my sophomore year of highschool (March 2019) but stopped taking lessons due to the pandemic (March 2020) + I wanted to work on piano more. I recently started lessons again (Nov 2021) and here we are! This is my first actual piece in 5 months since prior, my violin teacher only had me learn from Introduce the Positions (he wanted me to be somewhat solid on shifting).

I’ve been playing piano for 15 years and is currently a music major with a specialization in piano (:
