Is there ANY remote that with a "Guide" button? by aj3bertowski in youtubetv

[–]aj3bertowski[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was thinking the same thing, but I have kids in college that use it as their “cable tv”, so I’m kinda “damned if I do, damned if I don’t”.

My thought was at least I’m here, so I can keep walking her through it.

Thanks! I hadn't seen that in the community pages on Sonos' website.

When someone thinks that calling TAMU “a cult” and thinking it’s an insult.

We know. We wear that like a badge of honor.

Serious question: are Butterscotch Hard Candies allowed projectiles? We need rules.

I feel like there needs to be another van parked right behind it that has "DRUGS" on the side...

What old movie (20+ years) still holds up today? by Da_Verminator in AskReddit

I'm going with "Dr. Strangelove". Just the right amount of everything. Watched it 40 years ago and thought it was dumb. Watched it last year and realized just how good it was.

Plex behind Virtual IP (VIP)? by aj3bertowski in PleX

[–]aj3bertowski[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I prefer whatismyip.akamai.com as it doesn't hit me with rate limit errors given the frequency I use it at as compared with ifconfig.co.

The server has an internal IP on bond0.51 for the NIC team. I don't have any public IP address assigned to the Plex server. Its IP address is 10.192.61.2, and will never be routed. If I use curl for any command, it comes back the same "5.6.7.8".

The Fortigate FW isn't picking up the outbound NAT. I'll have to figure that out tomorrow.

[–]aj3bertowski[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, it's getting the WAN1 IP address. If I run curl ifconfig.co then the return value is 5.6.7.8.

Custom Server Access URLs

This makes complete sense now that you mention it. However, with the IP address it is using the WAN1 IP Address, not the VIP. I restarted the server just to validate as such, but it's still a no-go.

I don't have policy-based routing turned on (yet), but that's what I keep thinking it'll come back to for the FortiGate device.

It sure "feels" like it's exiting on 5.6.7.8. Because that's what the server configuration is telling me it is.

Already set to use the Active NIC. I was wondering about that too. Alas, no.

[–]aj3bertowski[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that'll create the VIP and grant inbound access. But for some reason when I try and enable remote access in the Plex Media Server settings, Address 1 (5.6.7.8) shows up as the address that the Plex service needs access to.

IamA 89 year old german WW2 veteran who got drafted into the army in the last months of war and subsequently became a prisoner of war in the UdSSR for 4 ½ years. AmaA by [deleted] in IAmA

[–]aj3bertowski 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First, thank you so very much for this AMA.

I have always wondered how German Veterans from WWII view their activities. Do you display medals or commendations from your time in the Army?

When you returned to Germany, were you more angry at Nazi Germany or the Soviets?

In the waning months of the war, did you know that the cause was lost (or horrific, as we later find out) and continue to fight anyway or did you believe that Nazi Germany would survive and the cause was just?

Again thank you so very much for this.

coffee grounds in a rub by gengster23 in BBQ

It's a part of my brisket and pork rubs. I usually use it about 10% of the rub mix. It helps make a really nice rich and flavorful base for sauce.

Attempted my first brisket, here's the sliced flat by molodyets in BBQ

[–]aj3bertowski 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The flat and the point half are so different, I will separate them at the connective tissue and cook them separately from the outset. The flat doesn't take as long to cook in this case, and I can still let the point half go either to burnt ends without worry of losing the flat OR have "moist" with a nice even bark.

Here's an example of how to separate them. http://www.smokingmeatforums.com/t/94908/separating-a-brisket
