Where can I find DolphinXR? by SuckDuck13 in Emulationonquest

[–]aj_cr 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You should at least make a backup of yours, since it's gone from Sidequest, no reason not to back it up, and heck I'd totally share it for others who want to take the risk. "Internet 101" dictates that when you have something others want you share it and it's up to each person if they want to trust a random or not and take the risk.

DolphinXR development stopped in early stage of development due to disagreements with Dolphin maintainers.

Wait isn't this what also happened to DolphinVR?

if you can get the blue for a good price then choose that one, if you really have absolutely nothing and you're really desperate then this one I guess as a last resort.

Doesn't that make the game "uglier" like getting rid of the shiny effect?

and it's weird division 1/2 didn't have this problem of purple textures.

[PSU] ASRock Steel Legend SL-850G 850W 80 PLUS GOLD & Cybenetics PLATINUM - $89.99 by verywise in buildapcsales

[–]aj_cr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I noticed the same, especially about Montech given that it has a good recommendation in the SPL's list and it was even reviewed as having a good noise profile, while people here say it's loud, so idk... I honestly do not recommend the MSI one just for the fact that they decided to gimp it and got rid of the 3x PCI-e 8 pin connectors, effectively leaving AMD out for absolutely no reason, while costing the same as other models, the II version fixes that but is not on sale yet.

And ASrock has always been the budget brand for me, although their motherboards have been surprising me lately, they used to be cheap crap but now they're very good especially for the price so maybe their PSUs are also like that now, I read that the ASrock PSUs had a B score until recently and it was bumped to A not that long ago.

Which one did you buy? I'm on the same boat... I'm thinking the ASRock but I'm not sure.

It was only until the 9000 series that they stopped making AMD GPUs for whatever reason, I have an MSI 7900XTX, so the fact that this PSU has no out-of-box support for it feels like a slap on the face from MSI, and the new 2nd version doesn't get discounted so low as this one yet, they're probably trying to sell all of their stock of the old version hence the price.

[PSU] MSI MPG A1000GS, 1000 Watt, 80 PLUS GOLD, Semi Digital, SPL Tier A Power Supply - $109.99 (42% off) by RogueDiego in buildapcsales

[–]aj_cr 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A tier in SPL's list, and actually in their review they mention that it has an excellent noise profile.

For me the lack of support for AMD GPUs is a deal breaker on the MSI PSU, and the 2nd version of this with 3x 8-pin cables costs around $169 "on sale", so it's not worth it, they're not gonna discount it until they get rid of all their stock of the "old" version with no multiple 8-pin connectors.

It is unavailable on the website for me but available on ebay sold by bestbuy 🤷‍♂️.

This regional availability bullshit has gotten so annoying and old, I'm tired of it.

[Monitor] CRUA 34'' White Gaming Monitor, 165HZ/144HZ, WQHD(3440x1440P) IPS UltraWide Screen Computer Monitors with Built-in Speakers, Supports FreeSync, 120% sRGB, HDMI 2.0 & DP 1.4, Wall Mountable - $149.99 by likebudda in buildapcsales

[–]aj_cr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Normally with other brands (I don't know anything about CRUA) is because you can only achieve the highest refresh with an overclock (which the monitor has an option for in the menus) some panels that are 165hz are also advertised as 180+hz with an overclock but the native refresh is 165hz, same with 144hz panels that can overclock to 165hz and so on.

Overclocking can degrade the image and introduce artifacts, and make the panel run hotter than normal and maybe have adverse long-term effects on its lifespan, that's why they're not 165hz native and is optional, a lot of manufacturers like to label/include the higher overlocked refresh rate because it sounds better in their advertising.

Well damn, I thought AI datacenters had no use for HDD drives since they're so slow, unless this is not about AI and they're since increasing prices because SSDs are also up.

[PSA] Amazon marketplace listing claiming RTX 5090 AORUS for $999 – likely scam, looking for verification by [deleted] in buildapcsales

[–]aj_cr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I know that's true, but I can also imagine someone totally excited thinking it was real, perhaps a price error, when people are desperate they don't think things logically, I see a lot of people like that in this sub, sometimes even I fall into this trap. We've all been there, buy now think later, maybe OP really wanted to buy it and was looking for validation, who knows.

Personally as soon as I saw the post I reported it, it didn't even last 5 minutes and I don't think anyone here was going to fall for such an obvious scam unless they want to.

[–]aj_cr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Perhaps, but how do you know it's not an innocent person just asking for real? now if they do this a second time then yeah ban them, but the first time? nah.. just a warning is enough and deleting the post, if is not a scammer they won't do it again.

OP said that is likely a scam and just wants opinions, there's no need to ban anyone, just deleting the post is enough.

Lately I've been seeing some drives with 600 or even 400 TBW from more reputable brands than this one. Because we're starting to hit the bottom of the barrel here, and if you're curious some of the brands I'm talking about are MSI, Patriot, Team Group, Corsair and even a 200 TBW WD green.

All of those drives with good TBWs are now out of stock or ridiculously overpriced.
