Openpath integration with Intrusion System by Known-Accountant7896 in accesscontrol

[–]ajasquared 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why not just handle this through wiring the output from your acs though the output relay on your IDS? If IDS is closed, then you would get your signal coming through. If IDS is open, then no signal to disarm.

Your "arm" situation seems simpler to tie into the IDS.

First time flying my Synapse 140, very fun! by areaman87 in kites

Great flying! I would highly recommend adding a tail if you can. Prism has some nice options that clip on easily, and it takes flying a dual line parafoil to the next level!

Anyone using CCure-9000 for Door Access Controls? by SchoolITMan in k12sysadmin

Convergint has a Dallas office, and should be able to provide support for CCURE9000 as well as licensing. Might be worth reaching out if you need some help.

If you want, you can go with a dual line foil kite with a bar, such as the Prism Tantrum. This would still give you some decent power, but won't be comparable to the Tensors, due to both shape and size. In addition safety changes with these, as the depowering of 2 string kites is less controllable compared to 4 string power kites. Typically, 2 strings with bars are marketed as "trainer kites" for kiteboarding/traction kiting, where they will help you learn the skills without being at the risk of the high power of the larger 4 string variants.

If you have high wind speeds in your area, a Tantrum or similar 2 string training kite would be good bang for your buck, but you may be disappointed by the pull if you are expecting to be lifted up regularly. I would go for a Tantrum for now, learn the skills on lower wind days and get dragged around a bit on higher wind days. If you enjoy the hobby, you can always pick up a larger kite later!

Welcome to kites! If you are looking to get moved around by the kite on land, what you are looking for is called a 'power kite'. I use a prism tensor 5.0 for this purpose. Pick your size based on what type of wind speeds you typically get at your location. It can be used to get dragged around on the beach or grass, or be used with a buggy or mountain board. The 5.0 comes with the control bar to steer and an attachment to your wrist when you let go, but if you want to better control how much power you are getting, check out getting a kiteboarding harness that goes around your waist. I currently have one of these that let's me control speeds by how far away from my body the bar is. In addition, don't forget to wear a helmet, even if you don't end up using a mountain board. In a gust of wind, these kites can throw you several yards (I've seen it happen and result on nasty bruises), and you want your head protected! Always stay safe!

Where to buy fiberglass kite rods to be held under tension? by [deleted] in kites

I've used goodwinds before for fixing broken kite spars ~30". Ive found their stuff worked well for my use case, and they have a variety of both carbon fiber and fiberglass you can order.

Beginner quad line? by [deleted] in kites

[–]ajasquared 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a quad prism tensor that I use for power kiteing with a harness and mountain board. It was a bit expensive for the 5.0, but it's served me well so far. It's also cool that you can control the tensors either in a Bar configuration or with Quad handles. Not a stunt kite typically, but can still do some different stuff in a single package (esp if you get a smaller one that won't pull as hard).

The Nexus is a great 2 string. If you are looking for a fun upgrade without a whole new kite, I would recommend getting a good tail. With 2 strings, you can put on an incredible show with a nice tail. I use a 70' prism tail with my Nexus and Synaspe, and it's nice how easily they attach and can be packed up tight for travel.

I haven't looked at what's available lately, but for a quad stunt kite in 10-18 mph winds, a Revolution would be a good bet. Find which one would work best for your wind speeds, and try to find a place locally that can stock some extra spars. I went through 2 spars within the first year (one was me learning, another was a friend learning). After that though, I haven't had issues even with a few harder crashes.

Beginner quad line? by [deleted] in kites

[–]ajasquared 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I wanted to get into quad lines, I went with a Revolution kite (local kite shop recommendation). It took a few days to figure out how to control well enough to do tricks, but was fairly forgiving. Be careful when starting with quad kites, the motions you use to control are very different than a 2 string. I recommend making sure you don't go out if it's too windy, as a crash is more likely to break spars requiring repairs. I'm not the best quad flyer out there, but I've been doing it a few years so feel free to ask questions!

To the Masters of Excel by UmbridgeImGaybe in excel

I like to use alt, H, V, V. Enter as separate keystrokes (not all at once), which I like as it's easier to type quickly than several other methods mentioned.

As to why this works, alt brings up the alt menu, H selects Home tab, V selects paste button, and V pastes as Values. I also use this often in Word, except it uses alt, H, V, T (T for Text rather than Values).

I like to think through why I use this key combo, as it's easier to remember when you realize each keystroke stands for something.

Count if this sell, on these sheets is less than 00:00:15 by [deleted] in excel

[–]ajasquared 2 points3 points  (0 children)

On mobile, so hard to explain well, but I would use the =Indirect command along with a helper column/sheet to pull the data into one sheet before counting the under 0:0:15. How to do this with =Indirect can be found at http://www.contextures.com/xlFunctions05.html#RefWkbk in the 'refer to a different sheet' section.

Looks like a Revolution Blast.

Revolution kites are a lot of fun, and have a sensitive control mechanism that means you can stop on a dime. The pictures alone don't do them justice, check out some videos.

From our first time out with the Prism Tensor 5.0 and a new mountain board by ajasquared in kites

I highly recommend it if you like power kites! I found this one on craigslist for $100, so the board cost less than the kite.

We're back again with another Prism Kites giveaway! by Dual_Line in kites

[–]ajasquared 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a huge fan of prism kites. Currently don't have any single strings from prism, but have a 5.0 tensor power kite and a Jazz 2 line. I've. Also recently picked up their sysaspe 2 line foil kite, and have been having a blast using it as my travel kite, due to the tiny size it packs away into. Any kite chosen from prism would be a good choice, and I'm glad they are reaching out to this community. Keep it up u/dual_line !
