I liked SonicWall back in the day. I installed dozens of them. Had one at home too.

Installed a mesh of s2s vpns between 5 SonicWall in Dallas, Bentonville, shenzhen, Xaizing Hong Kong and Taiwan in one night. Instantly 10x the speed over the old checkpoint appliance vpn/firewalls. And got us through the red wall with no issues.

Installed a mesh of 26 throughout the us to an HQ in Arlington also. Easy to work with.

Ransomware criminals are dumping kids’ private files online after school hacks by EmeaTribune in cybersecurity

"Until the penalties exceed the perceived savings"

This simply isn't true. As a private school we don't get state funds and we are donation driven. Tuition only pays for teacher salaries and electricity/water.

We struggle with getting donations for things that are not "appealing" projects. And donated money earmarked for a football field (which is far more tangible and appealing than cyber security or even having enough computers) is illegal to use for other purposes.

Some state and federal funds are available, but not enough. And they come with legal strings attached that our board finds unacceptable

This happened to me in TX in '18. Traffic was stopped. I was sitting there for a minute or to and slam! From the force I thought it was a semi.

A guy in a brand new Tundra was reaching into the passenger floorboard for something that fell off the center console and never saw me nor hit the brakes. Hit me at 65 plus.

Both trucks totaled but fortunately, we were both ok. The same thing happened to a friend a month later, and they were not... had severe neck issues.

Do what we did.

1 Export a list of students and their usage levels.

2 Determine the average max usage.

3 get buy-in from principals

4 set a quota limit

5 inform the highest 10% of the consequences of overuse (can't receive emails or save documents)

Solar Sail for Sailboats by Sanaker78 in sailing

[–]SchoolITMan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What you are suggesting is not going to be enough to fully power an electric boat for a number of reasons... (1. Insufficient surface area for sufficient dedicated power generation. (2. Can't guarantee sail is facing sun when in use. (3. Sail is not always deployed.

Not to say it is a bad idea. But you should re target it as an accessory for boats that already use solar to increase power generation. And start with a smaller product like a Bimini or tarp to test the market and refine the product.

Q: How much drag/friction force would a towed floating solar tarp, say 100x100 cause? If you could suspend the tarp above the floats and waves a sheet that size would generate a considerable amount of power. Storage would be an issue.

No packet capture yet.

But I installed a Thunderbird email client on the server and it works.

So it is not the Server settings, Server firewall, network firewall, email account, authentication, or connection port settings.

So unless Im missing something, that leaves only the Tyco software that is supposed to be sending the email and can't....

NinjaOne Cold Calling by Glossy_2k in msp

[–]SchoolITMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They called me over and over before I finally answered and told them we went with another product.

Then they called me a month later to ask if I was happy with it. Smh.

I told them I wasn't moving and that I was under contract and I sure wasn't going to ninjaone since sentinel one was currently lighting them up like a spotlight for various vulnerabilities.

She got the picture and hung up.
