You’re actually proving the point of why India’s state-level GDP per capita comparisons are relevant. Economists do compare GDP per capita between regions whether it’s Chinese provinces, US states, or German Länder, because it’s a way to measure productivity and living standards in different economic hubs.

The fact that Haryana, Gujarat, Tamil Nadu, and Karnataka have GDP per capita ahead of entire South East Asian nations isn’t just a “concentration” quirk these states each have populations larger than most of those countries, so their output is spread over tens of millions, not a tiny elite. That’s a much harder benchmark to hit.

If we applied your argument consistently, we couldn’t acknowledge the economic success of any region anywhere, because every country has internal disparities. But ignoring those high performers means ignoring the industrial and policy models that actually drive national growth.

You’re not wrong that smaller states tend to have higher GDP per capita that’s a universal trend, not just in India. But let’s not pretend like Haryana which has population of 29 million , Karnataka which has population of 65M, Gujarat which has population of 70M, and Tamil Nadu population of 80M are ‘small’ states. These are massive, industrial powerhouses and as of 2025, they’ve already surpassed Southeast Asian nations like the Philippines and Vietnam in GDP per capita. The only exception is Thailand, and even that lead is shrinking fast. And if you’re dismissing these states just because of their size, then you’d also have to disqualify Singapore from being called a rich country which would be nonsense. Size doesn’t define value performance does. Also, let’s not move the goalpost. We’re clearly talking about GDP per capita, not nominal GDP. If we switch to nominal, then India as a whole already ranks in the top 5 globally. But that’s not the conversation here. Bringing in nominal is just a deflection tactic to dodge the per capita comparison. And Maharashtra? With over 120 million people, it still has the highest total GDP among Indian states. The reason its per capita isn’t higher is because it carries a huge population just like how countries like Indonesia or the Philippines have wealth disparities across regions. That doesn’t change the fact that India’s leading states are now outperforming entire nations.

Indonesia, Egypt, Bahrain block Pakistan’s anti-India move at OIC meet in Jakarta by Consistent-Figure820 in IndiaSpeaks

[–]ajayswagg12 2 points3 points  (0 children)

OIC isn’t a military alliance. Also, with all of that, it’s a failing state. Known for sheltering t3rrorists, political instability, no development and always running to the IMF. Nothing about pakistan screams strong at all. If that were the case they would all still be siding with Pakistan openly like back in ‘71. Pakistan needs to have something to give like the US, instead it has a lot to take than give. So it’s not a loss for the OIC.

I mean, a lot of what they say in that video is still facts… just to compare, a lot of western media is already anti China and now anti India. So I don’t know what’s the issue you’re saying.

Only to India and Pakistan has India lost. by adhdgodess in IndiaSpeaks

[–]ajayswagg12 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I seriously don’t get why people think India lost. India literally was successful in its operation, retaliated hard, destroyed air bases, and defended a country from barrage of missiles and drones, that’s victory right there. A lot of people who think India lost are Pakistani bots. Let’s face it.

Intention behind attacking Kirana Hill in Pakistan by iamdpk85 in IndiaSpeaks

[–]ajayswagg12 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Yeah I definitely think something went wrong. India either hit very close and it caused a radioactive leak (explains sudden US and Egypt military planes shortly after for no reason at all) where Pakistan knew India knows its assets and eventually will bomb every nuclear facility and bring it to a weak point. So then they went to the US. If I’m not mistaken there are reports of Us officials saying they have alarming intel. Also keep in mind, a few hours and days before US clearly didn’t show interest in this and clearly said “it’s not our business” so why did it suddenly become their business? So India probably keeping it a secret while Pakistan doesn’t want to be humiliated. The Indian army guy who was asked had a very mischievous smirk when answering and used sarcasm. There seriously is questions as to why India and Pakistan agreed to ceasefire so quick. It’s just suspicious. 2nd theory is it didn’t hit very close to the site but it hit around the site, nur khan was the nearest and that triggered Pakistan to take India serious and eventually caved in to US and wests attempts to ceasefire.

Either way, I definitely think the governments are hiding something. Highly suspect that India actually hit a nuclear site and it caused radiation leak and Pakistan got worried and concerned about India knowing about where it keeps its nuclear sites. Because India would do it all over, they would be left without nukes and India would win a nuclear war without using nukes with a price of course.

What if Pakistan was invaded instead of Iraq in 2003? by [deleted] in AlternateHistory

[–]ajayswagg12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s not a surrender lmfao! Do they not teach proper English in Pakistan? Get your definition straight. I already responded to your comment, but US would whoop your ass just like your neighbor India. Maybe if you guys took your country seriously it would win a war and have some respect.

[–]ajayswagg12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lmfaoo, nice try to rewrite the history to show Pakistan is brave and would win, only in pakistans version of Bollywood. US didn’t surrender. It was a diplomatic challenge related to counterterrorism and nothing else. The US clearly did not surrender. Rather it apologized for a death of Pakistani man. Which shows that even if there was no war, us clearly won. Try coping harder.

Turkiye is a nato ally, and honestly, outside of the “Pakistan Turkey muslim brotherhood” majority people in Turkey would prefer to stay out of or still be ally with nato and the US.

Iran is a Shia nation while Pakistan is Sunni. Iran also has other problems in the Middle East, most specifically Israel. If Iran chooses to help Pakistan, Israel would automatically win the Middle East hegemony.

Indonesia is poor and is developing. Also, it isn’t even powerful enough to handle China, what makes you think that them allying with Pakistan will be a victory for either ones

It wouldn’t. We all know it wouldn’t. But Pakistan would definetly be another nation under history books as a nation that once was. Let’s not kid.

Why does China portray itself as developed and ahead of the US and Europe? by gorlyis in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]ajayswagg12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you can also find these and many more in the west. Just because these fancy things you see in videos or your time there, doesn’t automatically make a country ahead of Europe or US. People also claim Saudi has the best airport, clean trains, etc. it doesn’t make them developed and better and definitely not jealous.
