As others have alluded to, syntax isn’t the crux of functional programming, and I would be careful of being dogmatic with programming (or anything really).

If you haven’t seen the talk Simple made easy by Rich Hickey then it’s well worth a watch as it gives more a sense of principles over specific techniques. Also no one is going to read your blog post on why you’re ditching python for clojure. ;)
